I am taking my altered to LaRue Ohio to race at The Nostalgia Funny Car Nationals on Saturday at Marion County International Raceway. I would like to meet any Ford sixers that are going. I will be with the Gunslingers Nostalgia Altered Circuit for the first time. They invited me to bring my bracket car because I have not yet restored my Logghe car. See you there?

It was a fun weekend. We went to MCIR Friday to t-n-t and raced Saturday. This was my first time racing with the Gunslingers and I was warmly welcomed. They even had another altered there powered by a six - a 250 Chevy. They had a ton of old Funnys and Gassers too - at least two dozen FCs, and four really nice FEDs. I talked to one FED crew person and she said they were running on 74% nitromethane (at $1700 a drum - yikes!). Awesome! When we left at midnight they just started the second round of FC. We beat it back up to Milan - got back in at 3:30 AM in time for a few hours of sleep and then raced in their Sunday points race. I lasted four rounds.

The only issue with the car the whole weekend was a blown fuse on the trans cooler temp sensor for the auto fan switch relay.

Whew (wiping brow), I'm getting too old for this abuse. But it does make me feel young.

What kind of times were you running. Did you go heads up with the 250.

The starting line at MCIR was very iffy and I kept blowing the tires off the car. So I ran about 2/10 slower than at Milan the next morning. The 250 Chev was a really nice ride, but he was running about 1 second slower than me. We never ran side-by-side. Interestingly, he was running a 750 Demon carb. I suggested to him that that may be too much as our little 240 Anglia runs better with a 390 than a 600 Holley, and why dont you disconnect the secondaries and make a time trial. He did. It ran quicker. He is going to try a 600.

Geez, a 750 would certainly be too big for a 250 incher, especially a race demon, as they actually flow 825 cfm, unless he's turning that puppy up to 10 grand or higher. heh
I can't give enough praise to the BG Demon line of carbs, though, I've worked with about a dozen of them so far, and they're amazing performers.
Stainless steel hardware, SS helicoils throughout, and forged aluminum base plate make for a very durable, reliable carburetor, too. I bet he'd like a 600 demon on that motor. But even that may be a little too much, as the Demons always flow more than their rated number.

Thats interesting, I have found that the 300 likes fuel, I run two 650 Holley's and do not find that motor runs rich or is not burning all the fuel. If anything I find myself having to fatten up the mixture to keep the 02 computer happy I did put them on 2 inch spacers this year to increase the fuel velocity. I wonder how much cfm is generated by a webber set up to make a comparrison.
