Post Ford 330 CI Diesel Six
Has anyone seen one of these and do you have dimensions on it? If I go diesel with my F-150, I'd like to keep it Ford, and keep it a six. This engine looks like a 300 (except the intake and exhaust are on the wrong side) and it is also an industrial engine, like the 300. It might be like a 300 except better!

Oops... I thought I had posted them. Here they are:

This one is for a stationary application:
http://www.purplewave.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?100825A/3017/showall

This one is for a marine application:
http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/showthread.php?292869-Help-to-identify-an-engine

IIRC they were also used in L8000 trucks.

Looks like a big heavy engine maybe in a F250 or F350 with the firewall moved back some

Sorry to disapoint you but it is not a Ford.
That is a Lister Diesel made in the UK.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_A_Lister_and_Company

Ford used many different Diesels over the year and that includes Cummins, Perkins and Lister.

Perkins have been used in the Courier / Mazda and Cummins in some of the bigger trucks. Not sure what the Lister was used in.

Dammit! I got the idea from an old diesel textbook I bought at the local thrift shop for $5.00. It was published in 1979, and showed pictures of this engine, a 330 Cu In "Ford" diesel inline six. I got excited when I saw it, because (especially in the book) it looked about the same size as a full-dress 300 EFI engine. I wish the 300 were a viable engine to convert into diesel. I want a diesel, but I love my 300. I am so torn!

Ford/ New Holland did make a diesel for the med duty trucks from 86 to early 93. They were a 6.6 or 7.8. I have a 6.6 in my garage and dag nabbit, its big. If i put it in my Bumpside, it will be sitting 5-6" into the interior. Almost as long as a DT466.

I know, I know! Or (cheaper and I have a few in my possession already) a 6.2L or 6.5L. I don't know yet. This truck is still bulletproof, so I won't be messing with it until I do my diesel station wagon to be the backup family car for the diesel Suburban.

 So do what I did had a Rod with an inline 6 and put the Diesel in another project.
My 1923 T Roadster with the 6 is not good as an every day car (to travel far) and the 1948 Truck with the Diesel is great for long hauls.

Those 4BT engines are like HENS TEETH here in Australia. But I have to agree if you can find one go for it.

I also believe they used them in tractors and have seen a clip on You Tube with a conversion into the F series type truck. You also see them as Gen sets on old rail rail carriages as that was the last time I got to see one. No Turbo and you need a Diesel with a Turbo if possible..

New Holland also used the Perkins I6 diesel I have worked on one in an International truck about 1 1/2 or 2 ton. Cat made a small V8 diesel that was lightweight and compact.

Cummins are working on a Small V8 and V6 Diesel. I've heard it is going in a small Dodge Pickup.
Ford have a Diesel in the Teritory here (Australia) now and it was based on a Landrover Diesel.
