Oz 2v head's, different?

Postby stevexysupersix » Tue Oct 13, 2009 11:25 pm

Looking at one of my spare heads and noticed it has something cast between the 4th & 5th inlet ports. The others I have don't have anything there. Looks like I3 (could be 13) F2. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Date code? Sometimes you'll find similar codes stamped or cast into other pieces. 13F2 could translate into 13 June 72 or 13 June, second shift, or something like that. The mark would have been stamped into the core after the core was filled. The reason you don't always see them, esp in castings is the nature of how it was done. I heard that often workers would just say "to heck with it" on busy days.

Date code? Bugger! My imagination led me to believe it was a super rare, limited edition, high output, Bathurst prepped race head that would be worth a straight swap for a CI Aluminium head.
Guess I'll have to keep saving (& dreaming)

Thanks mate

I was hoping you might ship it to me for closer analysis and possible use and serviceability evaluations in place.

The worst bike ride of my life - May 3, 2003. Fifty miles, uphill through rain and sleet on a mountain bike for MS. I loved it. Came back three more times to make a difference.

This year: from Irvine to Oceanside to San Diego - 156 miles ridden with $3380 raised to help fight Multiple Sclerosis. Thanks guys!

Thanks for taking the time out to put some photos up. At he NSW all ford day this year there was a stripped out 2V same colour as yours which the owner was indicating had been an ex NSW police pursuit car. Apparently Ford asked the NSW police to trial it as opposed to the 351. Go figure?. Any way it had no console, armrests or chrome roof sill trim. I was keen to talk to the owner but couldn't find him.

Steve, didn't get any photos. I tried to load up some more of mine but the technology is beyond me. I have photos on Picassa but cant figure out how to share?

If you go to the XW-XY owners club website you will see some photos from last years All Ford Day. My car is the white GS.
