How did you hear about FordSix

Postby AzCoupe » Tue Sep 23, 2008 11:01 am

I'm just curious how you all found the FordSix forum? Another forum, magazine article, car show, word of mouth, or..... ?

Once I get a few answers, I'll turn this into a poll question. Thanks

Found it with some quality time spent on Google looking for info on vintage mustangs. Registered on a couple other mustang fourms, one was just dead and the other one mostly dealt with newer ones. Both useless when it came to 6's so maybe I was searching something to do with 6 cyl along with mustang.

Geez, I've slept a coupla times since then...yow, just went back and found my first post here- June of '05 (has it been that long?)

I found this place by websearching info on 8.5" clutches, spring heights, aftermarket a/c, and what the market value of a '62 Ranchero was.

I'll add that this is the one forum where the friendly and helpful tone has only gotten better over the years.

I know I was here before the Crash of 02. Used to spend a lot of time on Mustang Steve's FYI Forum back then. I think there was a website that had links to Ford-related forums (or Fora?). Got tired of all the stuff about Bent8s. Needed info on my car.

I found this site some time ago while looking for info on the Inline through a web search. It would take some time to hunt down my oldest date for a post.

Ummmm, started with Clifford, followed along with Jack and crew, and continued following to Mike and Fordsix. I actually first ran into Jack in 96-97 on.....VMF I think? I guess the answer would be "I happend to be in the right place, at the right time."

i believe i had read Mustang & Ford's.... well, i forget if it was an ad, or an article, but it was about Clifford, and went on for a page or two, and it was the only real performance thing i had ever seen about the I6, at the time i had some problems with mine, and was trying to find more information, so i wandered around a bit and found FordSix

that was back in high school, before the crash of '02, and i believe i joined back up while in tech school at Biloxi

Howdy:

I got the word from the TFFN and Clifford sites. That was a long time ago. TFFN is still alive and well, but, to the best of my knowledge the Clifford site is long gone.

Looking for info about ignition or carb or something. There was a link on Dave's Classic Mustang' site and I clicked on it. Lurked for a while thinking I was just an FN. Then there actually was something I knew and wanted to contribute so I joined.

The worst bike ride of my life - May 3, 2003. Fifty miles, uphill through rain and sleet on a mountain bike for MS. I loved it. Came back three more times to make a difference.

This year: from Irvine to Oceanside to San Diego - 156 miles ridden with $3380 raised to help fight Multiple Sclerosis. Thanks guys!

A long long time ago in the befor time when six was young and the king still had blue eyes there was a long time of emense darkness and confussion, then behold a small glimmer of light (clifford site) then a new day dawned and behold there was fordsix and all these other straight sixers.

long time ago, i was surfing for answers for my old 80 capri with a 200/c4 combo. found the prior version of this forum. Left for awhile after having to get rid of the car (stupid michigan winters) and then searched again to find it, just cause I liked the people and the engine so much.

In my case, I had just bought a 69 Mustang Sports Roof with a little 250 six in it. I was cruising the net looking for a V8 Crate motor when some how I stumbled on Ford Six forms (had to be the Beer) my buddy was over and made the comment that all this six stuff was kinda cool and different. well me being different and I like to take a good challenge I thought what the heck let's see what I can do....................... and this is the rest of the story.......................

before................

Image

TO THIS...............................

Image

I also want to thank Mike for all his help to get where I'm at now and where I want to go to with this little 250ci six........................

Here is one comment I got for a Mustang form when I showed a picture of my Stang...................."That's awesome! Nice engine.
You have balls to show a 'stang without a V8, too."

Also remember that the swap to a V8 has been done to death, anyone can do the V8 thing. But to do a Inline it takes some serious thinking and planing, you can go to places like Jegs and Summit and order anything you want for a V8, Just try to do that with a Inline.

Bill, the motor looks awesome. It's definitely one of the best that I've seen. When I first started selling parts, one of my main goals was to help guys build a motor they could be proud of. I can't tell you how many cool rides we've seen, with the hoods closed. So any time I hear comments like you posted, it just makes my day. :D

I found the forum when searching for info on the small six shortly after I got my Mustang. That would be the winter of '01.

This was sometime BTC (Before The Crash). I can't remember if I ever signed up BTC, but I did lurk quite a bit. My current account dates from Febuary '03.

This is the second or third name I've used and I was around for a bit on the old site. I can't remember dates, but I was coming to the site before I got my t-bird (now gone as well as the capri) and that was in 2002, so it was probably.. hmmm 2 rebuilds, lots of searching for parts.. 2000 or so. Been lurking ever since.

I was looking for info on my 92 Bronco taht I am about to get and most of teh info I found was for all the big V8 owners and not much for the Inline 6 crowd.

One of the guys referred me over to this site and I registered as soon as I got here. I look forward to learning everything I can about my new hobby and project.

Postby super4ord » Sun May 10, 2009 11:28 am

I originally followed the Clifford forum back in the late 90's. Started looking for HiPo parts to build a 300 for my neighbors '66 Ford truck. That really hooked me. It would smoke the 12" wide tires with an AOD and 370 gears. I remembered hauling hay when I was growing up and how the SBF trucks would bog down, buck and die if you didn't pay attention while going up a grade with a large load. The old 300 inline might bog down, but it would just keep on lugging and pulling. I was sold from then on. Afterwards, I believe while stationed in Korea in 1999-2000 I probably read every post on BBF 6's. I transitioned to the Fordsix forum when Jack had it and followed on when Mike took it on. What a ride it has been. We have come a long ways. Thank you Mike and Jack for keeping something alive for us.

Got my 300 pulled out of my F250 and needed some tech questions answered. Been a member of ForAbodiesOnly.com now for about a year and the guys over there keep referring to slantsix.org. So, putting two and two together, I figured if there's a forums board for the /6 guys, then there has to be one for the Ford Six guys. Pulled a google search and here I am.

Watched this video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co4J5gWwitM

Once I heard that sound I had to learn more. So I went to where I always go for Ford information, the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum. They concentrate on the 240/300 in their Inline Six forum. But I saw several references to ClassicInlines and Clifford and this forum right here at Fordsix.com. So here I am.

I checked the box for "Surfing" but actually, I fell down the stairs, bumped my head and immediately went out and bought a '69 F100 - I do believe there is a connection between the two events. After banging my head :bang: I had to find a site to help me out with issues with my baby. I learned a long time ago that the only dumb question is the question not asked. If its a 78 Ford and a six it will be one of the 300 engines they are great.
A bad day at the Drag's is still better than a good day at work!

My fleet of Sixes: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

Someone on the Inliners International site, where I'm a member, recommended Fordsix.com. I've got my 4th integral-intake engine, in a '65 Falcon Ranchero, that I recently bought. That makes 3, 200 engines I've had.

The 1st 200 was in a '65 Mustang, then I had a '67 Falcon, and now the '65 Rancho. I had one 250, which was in an Econoline van. The latest Falcon is a 170, but I have a 200 that I'm gonna go through, then install it. I'm thinking of the triple single barrel intake, headers, a mild cam and not much else, as this'll be a driver. I had the triple carbs on my '65 Mustang and they worked fine. Dual headers gave me the power and sound I wanted, too.

At 70 years old, I need something to keep me out of the beer joints and chasing wild women! I assume that I'll have just enough money to do one, but not both. I think I've chosen the right route to go.
