Machine shops and engine builders?

Postby AzCoupe » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:05 pm

While we are getting a pretty good list started in Machine Shops & Engine Builders, we still need a lot more. I currently have several customers looking for a good mechanic that can tune their motors. More specifically the carb and ignition timing. Most have recently rebuilt their motors, but can't get them to idle or run properly. Most are getting so frustrated, their ready to sell their cars or tow them to the junk yard and sell them for scrap. So if you know of a good shop or mechanic, or someone that can tune Weber carbs, please post the information. If we have any forum members that are willing to help out and make a few extra bucks, especially tuning Weber carbs, please let us know. If you don't want to post your info, but wouldn't mind helping out occasionally, send me a PM. Right now, I have a customer in Vermont that's ready to pull his hair out. I've tried to help him out over the phone and by email, but he just isn't mechanically inclined. He's had the car towed to several shops, which were recommended, but none of them have been able to help him out. They simply don't know how to tune Weber carbs, or inline sixes.

In the greater LA area I recommend Top End performance. Been taking weber equipped cars to them since 1985 with good results.

In the DC area (Silver Spring, MD, actually) I recommend Beltway Shell on Georgia Avenue. Ask for Ken. He's an "old school" mechanic who can and will actually do some diagnosis using actual tools. Works on a lot of V-8 rods, but not so good with the webers.

If anybody has any recommendations in the DC area for a mechanic who is good with Webers I'd welcome them. I'm actually pretty good at tuning these carbs myself, but It'd be good to have some professional backup.

Western Mass:

machine shop - Dutcher's in Greenfield (right off I 91 & state Rt 2)

carb tune (other mechanics) #1 Orpaz Auto, Amherst Ford specialist/credentialed

These folks are NOT referred lightly. I have had personal experience with them - they live/wrk in values based style, have great prices and do excellent work. If U paid for it & it don't wrk right they do it again free till it does. :nono:

(That's kinda close to VT? Have 'em post to me for phone # , etc) NY/CT/VT/NH area.

Western Michigan
I offer to you all: C-TECH Performance
2320 Chicago Drive SW
Wyoming, MI 49519
This is a Grand Rapids suburb. Arnie is the owner with Bob as his right hand man. He just put a 6000 sq. ft. addition to his building. He really knows Ford sixes. He builds them up for circle track. He has helped me alot with my 300 build (p&p, larger inlet valves, cyl hone, resize rods, etc). He just added a dyno that will be fired up this weekend for the MetroCruise. Machine shop, Chassis Shop, Chassis Dyno, 5 Axis Head Porting Machine, etc. They know their stuff! They work on virtully any engine.
