Postby IndianOutlaw72 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:51 pm

i kno this might sound stupid but i was wondering if i am putting a 6in suspension lift on an 88 f150 4x4 do i have to get a longer driveshaft? and is there any alterations that have to be made that are not included in the kit?

shouldnt need an extended driveshaft but it wouldnt be out of the realm of possibility as every truck is different.

other provisions? just be sure to get a front end allignment after.

Or use lift springs instead of blocks and/ shims from broncograveyard.com
Bruiser - 1990 Ford F150...barely...EFI 300 Big Six, nearly 300K and strong, Converted to 4x4, Undergoing 3/4 Ton SAS. 4.10 gears and Sterling Semi-Floating rear w/ Trac-Lok. [Turbo 300] build waiting on money as well...

Plans are changing again! Possible D60 Coil swap on the front end!

My girlfriend understands...

Say no to 6 inch blocks on the leafs. Lift it right.

My '78 bronc has a 6" skyjacker suspension lift. New high arch 6-leaf rear springs and the front coils are freekin long. I'm hoping I can use the stock rear driveshaft, as the slip coupling has quite a bit of travel.
I just added a 3" body lift too, and my 5'6" wife can just barely reach in to pull the tailgate latch. Wait'll she tries it with the bigger tires.. haha

Are you dropping the front beam mounts too? Pitman arm?

you have to drop at lest the pivot points or your wheels will be runing on the side walls.. and i think with over 6" lift youll need to drop the radius arms as well.

well i was hopeing to keep the stock leaf springs because they have the aux. springs and the kit comes with drop brackets for radius and axel pivit and a drop pitman arm and i believe 4in blocks so i might jus go with the 4in susp. and mayb a little body lift then because i did want to try keeping it simple, in a d.i.y. sense.

body lifts are crap...wires, lines, and linkages are stretched. all my friends that have gone body lifts have had problems with it.

my f150s got 3" lift with progressive coils up front and 3" block out back on 38.5
my f250 will be 8" of lift with 37 to 39.5. 8" leafs up front and and 3" leafs out back with about 3-6" of block.
