Dual engine setup

Okay so I'm interested with running two ford 300 engines side by side. I've searched all over and found that all you have to do is reverse the rotation of one engine and mesh them at the flywheel. Is it really that simple? I've looked at the Bugatti u-16, so That inspired me to try this, but before I attempt a u-12 engine and spending the money and time I want to make sure I know it will work. Any other ideas as to how to hook them up side by side would be appreciated. I plan on stuffing the two in a custom 65 mustang for those who are wondering

Not practical but what if you turn one engine around ,now rotation is correct and and intake and exhaust is also right ,I think. The ring would not last at all ,no lube bad mesh, a proper drive would be needed. A belt or chain drive lined up flywheel to flywheel side by side the rotation would not have to be changed but what do you do with the intake and exhaust. You would want the intake in the center and the exhaust on the outside.
