Re: Need Advice for Planning my Project 1964 1/2 I6

In a word , No after The middle of August ( production ) Build date is a bit earlier the 200 replaced the 170 , as the 289 replaced the Base engine options http://www.mustangandfords.com/news/mustang-1964/

Re: Need Advice for Planning my Project 1964 1/2 I6

If your car was built after the end of August it is not a 64.5 car ( again not a term FORD ever used ) as its a December build the 200 would be correct , So although its NOT a early production Mustang , your Better off IMHO

Did you or someone swap in the 200 as the " so called 64.5 Mustangs "Ford Never called them that" had the 170 , just asking before you buy parts for a 200 and its a 170 , if it is a 200 of course its a better deal , cubes cant be beat IMHO

What are your timing specs ?, and have you checked and verified the Balancer and marks are correct, with that cam , I would run 18-24 initial , of course total has to be limited , set it there as a test and see where the vac goes , NEVER use stock Specs for anything other than a start :nono:

There are Variables in play here , After break in , using any of the Diesel 15w-40's , Valvoline VR series etc, would give you plenty of Zinc, without needing to add , the Spring pressures used on a Falcon 6 are low compared to most combos , and the 1.5 ratio rockers are also easy on valvetrain , if...
