Re: 67 mustang - 300 head vs 200 head

Yes and No. Yes, the 80-84 200 head will bolt directly on your 67 engine, the 250 head will also. The No side of the equation is the size of combustion chamber of both the 200 and 250 heads. The original head on your 67 had a combustion chamber size around 53cc. Both the 250 head and later 200 heads...

The 80-84 200 head that bubba linked to at Jeggs is the best head to have, even over the 250 head. The 200 head has the largest intake log volume, largest stock valves, and hardened valve seats. It has the largest chamber volume, so if you are planning forced induction, so much the better. I also re...

You may want to contact Scarebird about what hub machining is required. The kit includes the 5-lug hubs; you think the hubs would already be machined to fit. Re: 200/3.3L crankshaft questions

If you want parts that will handle more HP look at aftermarket rods for either the Pinto 1.6L or 2.0L engine.
They are slightly longer than the 200 rod, 4.9"-5.0", for better rod/stroke ratio, are forged, and can handle more HP than the 200 rod.

Hope this helps.

One thing to remember about the 170 is the stroke is shorter than the 200 (2.940" vs 3.126") with the same rod, so that portion of the crank is closer to the centerline. This would help stiffen the crank along with the thicker counterweights as opposed to a four or even seven main 200. The...
