Take a look at the intake manifold and imagine the center section of an original log manifold. :wink: The FTF has previously posted using these center sections for mounting 3 X 1 carburetors.

Years ago, I purchased a remanufactured 1 barrel carburetor from RockAuto. The carburetor was remanufactured by Autoline, which is a Canadian company. It arrived rebushed for the throttle shaft and has performed well.

On the old style [pre-1987] pans, there are raised areas around each bolt hole, to locate the gasket pieces. The newer oil pans are smooth. Just take a side grinder and lightly hit the raised areas to make the old pan smooth. This worked well on my 1986.

Not sure what the 86 air cleaner actually looks like, but I6 Vans had rather compact little air cleaners. I sold this one from a 74, and have another I found in a 78-91 econoline, in the cargo area. Filter is about 8-9" in diameter I think. https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1138991/fullsize/...

Good morning,

When replacing the head pipe, beginning at the 4.9L stock log exhaust manifold, can a larger diameter pipe be used? Can the end of the larger pipe be flared such that it will mate with the exhaust manifold ball shaped exit?

Some intake manifolds have a hole adjacent to the carb mounting surface (about the size of a penny) that is for the EGR. The carb spacer under the carb has a similar passageway. Jason832, check with Bill [wsa111]. He sold me a NOS Motorcraft Duraspark distributor which he recurved for my application [formerly a feedback 1986 with EGR removed]. I currently use a MSD 6AL ignition module. The truck runs great and returns good gas mileage.
