If you're plannin on running a stock 300 engine on methanol, might I suggest not doing i?

Why do you need this engine to run on methanol? Are you trying to burn piston rings and spark plugs up, or is there a darker, more sinister method to your madness?

High tempurature spraypaint can provide a good finish with the right amount of care and some good clearcoat. If it were me I'd powdercoat it. A powdercoating system from SEARS is very affordable, and they have a wide variety of powder coats available. I was doing small parts at the time I bought the...

Exactly.... :D My cousin put a Corvette LS1 with aluminum heads into a 1984 Pontiac Fiero (Stock V6, Mid engine-RWD) with a six speed stick tranny. If you can do that I'm positive you can fit the 300 ino the Mustang, ut you might want to look into beefing up the front suspension, or at least the spr...

Well guys, the repair is done, but not as planned. I took my two 14" long steel plates and bend them into a shape that contours around the frame rail. I welded one in place over the hole that remained after the rust was removed. This plate took the shape of the stock frame rail and wrapped most of t...

Wow, you guys are great! Thanks!. I got some hteel plates but i was gonna leave them the same size. That's a good idea to form them to pointy ends. The problem is i don't want to take off the front spring hanger. Any ideas on this? The really crappy part is that the reason I got this on the road was ...

Well guys, I got my 300 I6 stepside on the road a while ago. She purrs like a kitten. New 2' drop hangers in the rear, MSD Blaster ignition, Edelbrock intake, new OEM fuel pump and fuel line, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, brake lines, speakers, SunPro tach, Grant steering wheel and more. It's not a ...

If she's smoking out of the breaher then it's most likely the rings. If shes got a stock intake just pull out the breather and see if any smoke comes out while she's running. There's a deflector under the valve cover to prevent any oil spillage.

I've got a straight pipe on mine with a tip that pokes out right before the passenger rear tire. Sounds mean, especially with the 4 speed stick. 8)

I cut my muffler out and cut the tailpipe section coming from the muffler into three pieces. I then used a $2 adapter to get the section from the cat to match up to the cut and welded tail section. the sections were cut and welded so that the exhaust now exits at an angle right before the passenger ...

I have a Holley 2 bbl carb off an early 89's 2.3L 4 cylinder Mustang that's just been rebuilt. Would it be able to feed a 300? I've often thought about making an adapter plate for that carb that bolted onto the factory carb heater plate. I used to be part-owner of an aftermarket R/C company... So I ...

I recently removed all the vacuum lines to get the valve cover off. There are no more vacuum lines going into, or coming out of the air filter housing, due to the 14" Pro-Flo Edelbrock filter. I did notice a while back that the carb mounting bolts to the stock Ford carb heater/adapter were loose, an...

I'm fine with ripping it apart... I'm plenty experienced with rebuilding carbs, my only peeve with that is that it's already been done once. The truck is an '86 with the stock single barrel. Even when I manually open the choke the idle remains the same. But it does guzzle gas fairly quickly, so the ...

Ahhh, the Cummins.... Great mill, hardcore six banger. My last truck had a Cummins in it, very strong and more torque than I certainly knew what to do with. That thing had more cajoles than most small block V8's. Don't forget ignition. A new ignition (Coil/plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor) will not...

300 Rough Idle When Hot?????

My 300 has some problems at idle. It runs fine at high idle, but when the engine warms up the idle becomes similar to an enging running a hot camshaft. Off idle response and power is fine, but once the engine returns to idle it pops, shakes, and misfires. I haven't messed with timing, and it's got a...

My 86 has a points distributor and a single barrel carb. You said in the first post it had a 4bbl intake on it, so I'm guessing it has a 4bbl carb on it. My 86 has no such computer, or no such self-adjusting. Later models had a vacume distributor advance, but mine is just a points distributor. There...

My '86 F-150

Hi! My name is Justin and I have a 1986 Ford F-150 with the 300 I6. I bought the truck for $800 with 89,000 miles. It's a 2WD stepside with the 4 speed manual tranny. So far I love my straight six. I got the truck after my 1990 Cummins 12V diesel inline six got caught on fire and trashed. Below is a...
