Hi Guys, back after many years. Plan to make this a habit again... got a pile of GMC Inline 6 parts. Very nice, low mile 302 short block. 270 Cylinder Head ?... Yes here in Nebraska, winter time... When it stays in the teens or colder. Everything I drive loses 2-4 mpg :? Been known to cheat abit. Run a tank type/ heater hose, Engine heater :thumbup: It does help, and its nice to have a warm cab sooner... No doubt the winter blend gasoline burns up faster too.

These engines with Factory pistons & lota miles tend to rattle. My bet is some broken, out shape pistons. :hmmm: My 300 six with overbore, and Hyper cast pistons. has a little noise, not bad. Im sure its the fine tooth iron timing gear set (factory parts)

Its best to be picky when choosing a clutch kit, (had my share of bad ones) LUK makes a real nice kit, never had a problem with one. :nod: Seems I have used the Perfection kit before, without a problem.

Look on Keystoneturbo LLC :thumbup: they make draw through kits for farm Tractors & one for 220/240 6 cyl. IHC Trucks. Cool pictures, and roadtest vidios :D Shows how little it takes to wake up those Engines... Would apply well to our 300 sixes :hmmm:

First off you wanna make sure your primary throttle blades are closed as far as possible, to cover the idle transfer slots. Since you say adjusting the mixture screws makes a difference, I doubt that is an issue? Im thinking It is a mixture/ vaporization problem, from a cold, large volume Intake Man...

I would favor 2 Holley 2300s, smaller up to 350 cfm size. If ya can find a matched pair? the ones used on late 50s-60s Ford Cars/Trucks & 60s-70s IHC stuff are small. But might be a pain to find ? Prob. easier to Get 2 Race Bowled 350cfm Holleys. :nod: 2 Autolite 2V Carbs. should work fine 1.21 ...

YES, on that. Mine were listed for a Ford Truck. If you get some, make sure when mounted the Rubber snubbers have the correct clearance. No more than an inch & a half ? from bottom of Leaf Spring. Or they wont do any good.

I remember back in the day all the fretting about R12 going away. The first info on 134a conversions was to change the Dryer, orifice tube, hoses & charge fittings, add larger Condenser (if needed).Flush system, add new oil, & 134a refrigerant. Not too many years later, it was... change fitt...
