Regarding Rod Length in 300

FTF; The late Kay Sissel(& I think Ak Miller) seemed to think the 240 rod (6.795") was a good option for the 300. The Piston compression height would be in the 1.170-1.185 range. Too much crowding of ring package with this short of a C/H? Also am wondering if destoking forged steel crank to...

Re: BIG SIX BUILD-UP ARTICLE BY FTF

Really enjoyed your article on 240/300 buildup. I am gratified to see that someone of your level of expertise appreciates the 240. With the former AMC 4.0 showing what four litres can do,a Ford 240 can at least match their performance. BTW the combustion chamber roof support was said to date back to...

Re: Howards Cam

Can agree w/ last contribution. This Howard cam is not a six cylinder grind way too much duration. Howard was THE name in cams for sixes "in the day". But tech does not set still. I worked on a full house 331 inch GMC w/ a Howard roller and steel Cast rockers in the early to mid sixties. T...

240/300 engine vs. 200/250

I tend to think the 240 is an underated engine even w/ it's cast crank. A cast crank will take a great deal of abuse if set up properly (micro-polishing,straightening,journal chamfers, etc). This engine has an excellent rod/stroke ratio, a point not missed by short trackers who use these rods in thei...

Ford 300 six in a Mustang

Not sure what you mean by a "fox body"? I was under impression Fox body was Futura/T-bird type? I installed a 300 six in several Rambler Americans. Mustangs,Falcons,Mav's were too expensive here in So. Central PA. to purchase. Removed original engine/trans combo. Placed engine w/ C-4 ,from '71 Econo...
