Ok guys and gals. Problem solved. The original wood spacer cracked so I replaced it with another one. The second time it gave me problems was my fault. I didn't have the carb mounting nuts tight enough. Put a new vacuum line and fittings on and runs great now. Problem fixed. Yeah

Autite 1100 with no vacuum

Just like the title says. My carb is producing zero vacuum at any rpm. I have 12 psi at the PVC do I know the intake is making it but I can't get any at the fitting for the dizzy.
Any ideas before I tear down the carb for a possibly unnecessary rebuild?

Thanks jackfish. :roll: Now I discovered a whole other can of worms with my vacuum gauge. I dont have any vacuum at all.
So now I need a couple pictures of the vacuum line end that goes into the carb and where they're hooked up on an autolite 1100.

I thought of that too. I don't know though if I could get away with 1 quarter inch spacer or not. Half inch is as thick as I can go with my chrome air cleaner for hood clearence. Plus I would have to have a gasket between the two spacers I. E. Another spot to leak. I might get one and see what happe...

Saturday morning first thing I started the car. This time it was stone cold and would not idle. So I removed the top of the carb to make sure the brass float wasnt full of gas from a pinhole. Runs bad and will not idle at all. Stalls but starts back up immediately. So I don't think it coil or ignition related. The day it started I swapped condensers just to see but nothing changed.

Cheap cutting boards are made of softer material. That's why they warp. You have to use hardwood like maple or ash. Where did you find the stock depth for the flywheel? I have been trying to figure it out for years. I couldn't even find it in the Ford shop manuals.

I don't believe the Rotella has what is needed anymore due to the new diesels having emissions on them now also. I will look at a bottle of it tomorrow at work and see what it says.

You could in theory keep the factory head and mill off the log part keeping only the runners themselves.
Fabricate a tubular intake to mate up with the runners and put a rubber connector between the two.

If I'm seeing the pics correctly, it looks like there are two different areas with JB weld on them.
The big crack /fix looks like someone torqued a w/p bolt to tight or broke it off.
IIRC that is a thin spot on the side of the block.

For some reason it looks like Ford actually did put the red paint on the springs at the factory. Mine was the same way and I am 99.9% sure that my engine was never apart until I rebuilt it.

After using every trick in the book, I still couldnt get the broken w/p bolt out and ended up pulling the engine and taking it to a machine shop to get the bolt removed and the threads repaired. (actually IIRC they had to put a thread insert in)

Did you ever take the trans out and check the TO bearing?? If it is getting worse it may be causing your shifting problem along with wiping out the clutch assembly.

I still like good old Permatex Indian head shellac. I've never had a gasket leak when using that stuff, but the down side to the stuff is if you have to remove the gasket. It does not not come off clean. You have to use a wire bruch or a some kind of scotch brite wheel on a drill.

My '84 F-150 had a 10" rear and they look like a 9" rear. The seal was leaking and the bearing and retaining ring had to be pressed off to get to the seal.

With the 6 bolt you can put in the toploader and get a 9 inch clutch. A 10 inch clutch was available but that is for the V8
IIRC both the 3 speed and the 4 speed have the 9 inch clutch.

The picture of the two pieces you have there is only part of the whole part. They are the ends that slip on for the star wheel end of the adjuster. When you put them on put some white lithium grease or equivalent to keep them moving freely.

Something doesnt sound right about your problem. The bottom of the shock on the rear of the car is a stud that you should be able to easily slip a deepwell socket or a wrench on the bottom nut. The difference is the size of the bearing at the outer end of the axle shaft.
Most of the smaller tubes are older and the larger ones are newer IIRC.

I have never seen a valve cover with paint on the inside. If someone is trying to pass off a valvecover as NOS and there is paint on the inside, I would call his bluff and ask for proof.
Paint on the inside would do nothing but cause trouble like you said.

Sounds like it is fabrication time, unless you can find a donor car with a good trunk.
Since it is a Falcon, you might want to look at the replacement trunk area for the '65-'66 Mustang. I believe the gas tanks are the same size and you may be able to use the area around the opening.
