You need the retard feature on the MSD, yes it can be adapted to the DUI. This Modded DUI has coil output of over 60K Volts.
It needs a full 12V just like the MSD.
I think a better solution is get one of my DS11's

Does cloyes off a roller timing chain with broached keyway positions in the crank gear?? Could you get a machine shop to broach several keyway positions on your stock gear??
Have you checked the Damper to see if it zero's out @ TDC?? The 250 has little aftermarket support.

I believe line boring is the culprit. It makes the seal diameter smaller.
When you install a rope seal, before you cut it, you want to take a hammer handle or a round piece of pipe & roll the seal to seat it into the block & cap groove.

I got the Pertronix 1261 in a few days ago. The directions tell me "if your system presently has a ballast resistor, do not remove it" so I didn't look for it. I yanked the points and put it in with a little less than .030 gap (I wasn't able to easily fine tune the gap-can't remember why)...

You can increase your plug gap to .045"-.048" with your ignition. I believed i recurved the DS11 a while back.
See if you can get an A/F tester so you can see what your carb is producing.

Do it on a warm engine. Disconnect the ignition. Open throttle WOT. Then run compression.

Ryan, till you install the 80 head, your A/F tester will be a valuable tuning tool.
The Autolite carbs can also use a Holley power valve.
If too rich at WOT you may need smaller PVRC under the power valve.

The NGK 7510 is an iridium center electrode plug. They are excellent for a NA engine. They do not tolerate detonation. The center electrode if broken off is not friendly to piston crowns. Till you get everything straightened out you may just want to use Autolite 45's & gap them at .045"-.04...

Too lean a mixture & detonation. Looks like some oil buildup on some of the plugs.
What brand plugs & number. They look like NGK 7510??
Thats what i run in my engine & i have 9.4 compression, but the A/F is spot on & have no deposits.

Smooth idle on the lean side of adjustment.
You have to get the secondaries open to get a true WOT A/F.
