Re: PCV observations

Just use the stock PCV. To keep blowby in check install a Spectre oil breather cap.
Remember at full throttle the PCV see zero vacuum.
All the PCV does is evacuate the crankcase at idle & part throttle driving.

Re: Valve Spring Retainer Rotators?

The rotators were used cause of unleaded fuel. The intention was to prevent uneven seat wear.
Get rid of them, i have seen heads where the valve rotated too much & wore the valve seat into the head.
Get decent springs with aftermarket retainers from one of the camshaft suppliers.

The reason you are getting vacuum on the ported connection is because your idle speed screw is in so much that the throttle blade is exposing the ported vacuum port. To fix the problem your distributor may need to be recurved so you can get your initial advance in the 14-18 degree area. If your engi...

As a safety feature get electric wipers.

Once that is done scrap the mechanical fuel pump & go electric.
Going electric eliminated all my vapor lock problems in hot weather & helped for a quick start.
