Re: 1.01 289 autolite VS 0.98: jetting/ttuning? (250)

its ok.. i'll figure it out, im pretty adept at tuning, but was trying to at least get a baseline on this as I am more familiar with what i stated above. I have changed the PV to open later (more vacuum required) and the mains are larger. the accel pump stroke is on the lowest setting as anything ab...

Re: Need Advice for Planning my Project 1964 1/2 I6

whya 5 lug? no benefit. do a 4 lug w disc brake conversion should be ok. I have a 200 in a 62 falcon which is basically the same car, (albeit mine has the stock 2 speed auto) daily drive it soemwhat. handles pretty good but a rear sway bar is coming. best thing i did was electronic ignition and a we...

Re: 200 cylinder head removal / Head bolts

regarding the header, id STRONGLY reccomend some stainless studs and split nuts. pulled enough hair out dealign with broken exhaust bolts over the years to give up on non-stainless ones. When I did my 250, got the studs from mccmaster carr and the split nuts, all stainless, for a lot less than a set...

Re: 1.01 289 autolite VS 0.98: jetting/ttuning? (250)

great info guys. the jet change was primarily due to WOT and steady engine speeds issues, i think i have that sussed. I do know that the 1.01 did infact come off of a 67 comet with a 289, the car belongs to a friend of mine and i got the carb when we swapped on an afb and intake, and i do know the f...

i plan on doing that when the final exhaust gets run, right nw its sort of a crappy system on there, didnt want to weld the 02 bung ona pipe thats going to be replaced. I can tune with an , i just want to know IF modifying the spray nozzle has been done w airjets, or if anybody has run the 1.01 and ...

1.01 289 autolite VS 0.98: jetting/ttuning? (250)

So, as the title suggests, i have modded my 250 to take an autolite 2v carb. (milled log to fit, no restrictive adapter) I'm lucky, and have 2 to use, one is off a 67 289, the other is from a (fairlane?) 260 V8. Both have been rebuilt and ultrasonically cleaned correctly ( by me) I initially ran the...

Re: What mods should I do to the bottom end of a 250.

aside from the pistons to get the correct compression/squish, the 250 is very over engineered for a bottom end. having just finished mine, i really have ahard time seeing why a double roller chain is needed, or any beefier rods, etc. for a street car. mine will rev to 6K with adead bone stock bottom...

Re: 200 vs 250 balancer

gotcha. seems like a whole lot of work for a double roller chain, especially as large as the stock 250 one is.

is the benefit the indexible gear?

Re: 200 vs 250 balancer

chain length is different, and the 250 chain is super wide compared to a 144-200. (fail to see need for double roller)I have anew chain coming from cloyes for my 250 actually, today. seems like a lot of work to fit a balancer. why not get the balancer bored out, and have anew keyway cut in? would be...

yup, made my point:

stock 200ci short block with ARP rod bolts, Classic Inlines new aluminum head with 184/150 valves, 264-110 cam, 1.6 ratio rockers, dual-out headers, and our DUI ignition system. The DUI dizzy is set up with 24 degrees of mechanical advance @ .... etc.

250 pushrod/rocker q's

I tried to search but coulndt find an answer. So, i have a 250 in my 75 maverick, have a 'new' us spec log head thats been decked .070, going to run a comp cam, nothing teribly special. however, i always like the idea of an adjustable rocker. i have the stock rocker setup on the 250 (its dead bone s...

Re: carb issues?

If it does it when cold...its drain back. both my cars do this. i firlmly beleive it has soemthing to do with the ethanol. ive replaced fuel pumps, gone though the carbs.. they just do it. sucks. Im going to go electric on the pump very soon. (even my 200 w weber does this) If when its HOT and the c...

Re: how many Mavericks here???

Hi, we actually have 2. my wife wanted aV8 one a few years ago, so found one locally factory 302 car , 72. was kinda rough but we got it together. IN the process of geting her car right i found a 76 with a 250 I6, (thought it was a 200 originally). was GOING to use it as a parts car until i go tth e...
