Re: Aluminum Head for a 275 cubic inch engine:

Yes, a lot of potential with these engines. Ford guys have been wishin and dreamin for an aluminum head for the 300 ford for so long, I better appreciate what this thing is. It was about $1100 for all the machine work. The machine shop even shimmed the valves to spec, and that's kind of labor-intens...

Re: Pistons may be weakness of 300/4.9 Design?

With the older landcruiser f motors, we will take the 2F, 4.2 liter block and combine it with the EFI head of the 3FE 4.0 liter engine. The 4.0 liter engine was shortened by about 1.3 inches. If you observe the pistons in these engines at their most downward position in the bore, the 4.2 liter engin...

Re: Pistons may be weakness of 300/4.9 Design?

I'm an inline six connoisseur, not a Ford specific guy. I'm not sure if you guys have ever discussed this, but some of the v8 pistons have very short skirts and consequently too short in overall height in my opinion. If you observe the stroke of any inline six, as opposed to say a V8, you should obs...

Aluminum Head for a 275 cubic inch engine:

I know it isn't a ford but it's a great inline six engine. I'm trying to get this one done, so that I can do up a 300 inline six in an old 1987 fj-60 landcruiser. Here are the specs of a 4.5 L 1fz-fe toyota motor: cross flow head design. Extremely long intake runners to improve low end torque 24 val...

Re: A few question about the 1971 F250 with Canadian 300 6

Thank you very much to those of you have provided insight and encouragement. I just got back from a trip towing a camper and a snowmachine. I ran about 847 miles, no torque from that tundra 4.7 v8. You had to drop down into drive 3, and get the motor around 3500 rpms, just to make the mountain passe...

300 inline six in a landcruiser

Hello from Alaska folks, First post here. I've owned, driven, and worked on mostly Toyota Landcruisers. My admiration for these rigs are for alot of the same reasons this forum exists: inline six engines. I don't like V8 engines, I never will. I haul firewood, snowmachines, boats, moose meat, lumber...
