Here is the build we did. Have about 30K on it now. Daily driver, pulls a lot of trailers. Truck is 1969 F250 Hi-boy, ZF5 speed , 35" tires, 4.10 gears. We are very happy with the combo. Very fun to drive, wheels great.

I will check that group of connectors on the valve cover. I am pretty confident it is not vacuum. If I induce a vacuum leak it runs smoother.

bubba22349, replaced the following on rebuild. PIP sensor in Distributor, rotor, cap, Taylor plug wires,plugs & MSD coil. All new injectors as well. New O2 sensors, new temp switch ( on water neck )
Things not new : IAC, Throttle Position sensor, map sensor, EGR valve , ECM

Update: we re-installed EGR system, to no avail. Still has bad misfire.
Will run pretty decent with a vacuum leak , which leads me to believe it is a air / fuel thing.
Anyone else? I am pulling my hair out !!

MR GASKET OFF SET CAM KEY

Can someone help with installation direction on the Mr Gasket 987G offset cam key. I am looking to advance the cam. I am unsure of with direction to install the offset. when looking at the end of the camshaft which direction should the offset be CW or CCW?

We have welded another nut onto the bolt head many times, in areas where it is accessible. Weld on the INSIDE of the new nut. Also the heat from the welding tends to help loose said bolt.

Just to put this to rest: Pulled head , found one crack in combustion chamber, and two very loose pistons on cylinders that were misfiring.
Rebuild upcoming.

That is great info Pmuller,thanks again. This cam idles pretty lopy at 600 RPM. doesn't really get smooth till bout 800. If we decide to do the build I will take your advice on the A/F meter.

On the Carb motor we are running a Clifford intake with a motorcraft 2150 right now. Im not sure of the venturi size.It cam off of a 390 we had in the truck before the 300. Ran good so we used it to save on cash, and it has EFI manifolds. the truck that we would like to use another one of these cams...

FTF I highly recommend the 2150 2V, either in a 1.08 (common on 302 V8s) or the 1.21 (common on 351 - 400 V8s) throttle size. How do you tell the difference between the sizes of carbs, I have several of the 2100 & 2150 laying around. Currently have one from a 360 on the truck now runs very rich.

I have seen several 300 Ford powered Oil / Gas well pumping units. We built 4 units in 2012 , customer supplied us with used skids all engines were 300 Fords. They each had a gear driven Hyd. Pump mount bolted on where a bell housing would be. All ran on Natural Gas or Propane.
