Re: Exhaust Manifold for a 226

You should move this to the forum section and not the for sale section. Are you looking for the stock manifold? Stock parts are hard to come by for these engines. Ebay and Craigslist are the only places that come to mind to search on. If you don't mind an aftermarket header, Reds Headers is now maki...

Not yet. Probably will have to wait till Christmas. But I really want them bad. Worse case is I'll have to wait till April 2020. I'll be getting a bonus that will let me afford them.
When I do get them, I will post pictures.

Re: Autolite 1100 carb help needed

While you are adjusting everything, you might want to adjust the clearance on the Pertronix module. There is supposed to be a .030 gap between the pertronix module and the magnet collar. In your picture it looks like the module is riding on the collar and being ground away. You might actually want t...

Re: New Distributor for 254 Flatty

Hey Bubba, This question is for you. Do you have the advance curve for the stock 226 H-Series? I am looking at a different ignition so I can use different carburetion. CB Performance makes an ignition box that you can program a timing curve into. It even has a MAP sensor that can be used for vacuum ...

Re: 226 Exhaust Size

Thanks Bubba. When they split the exhaust, do they have to put a baffle between the front half and back half? Does that really free up 10-15 HP? That is crazy. Now I need to find someone near me that does that. Right now I have the Pertronix Ignitor II, but I have been looking at this ignition syste...

I need to get my exhaust done. Right now it is all stock 48 H-Series in a 41 Tudor. I have a 2" pipe coming off the exhaust manifold and would like to have it split to have dual exhaust. What size pipe should I run after the split? Would 1" be too small? Or should it be 1-1/2"? Where ...

Re: Oil Pressure Readings

Everything I have ever read or seen the general guidelines for any pressurized system is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. Thanks, that is what I seem to have. Your engine has fine oil pressure. That is what I was hoping. I know these engines don't need a lot, but I had to make sure. Thanks for the replies.

Oil Pressure Readings

I have a question about normal oil pressure for a H-Series 226. At idle (1000 RPM, I know it's high) I have 25 PSI Then at speed, around 2500 RPM, it goes up to 40 PSI It isn't until I get it over 3000 RPM that it gets up to 50 PSI When it is cold it is a constant 50 PSI I looked on Van Pelts and di...

Just an update for anyone interested. Yesterday I took the carburetor off and disassembled the top half. I check the float and the needle valve. No debris in there. I also check the other moving parts to make sure they functioned properly. Put it back together and back on the car. I adjusted the idl...

Okay, I had pulled the crank out prematurely without looking for any type of timing marks or making my own. Are there any marks on the crank and camshaft gears to get them in the correct timing position? MIne has the fiber pressed on cam gear.

Will hot tanking or the chem-stripping affect the cam bearings. The engine is actually in pretty decent shape and I wouldn't want to have to replace the bearings if they don't need it.
