Fan shroud and other 6cyl mustang parts. 1101 autolite.
I have a fan shroud for a 66 mustang 6 cyl. It has notches in it had a spal 16" fan on it. It works fine with the stock fan also. Asking $100. I have other six cyl mustang parts also. Front spindles with almost new brakes, 7.25 2.80 rear with almost new brakes. Used radiator, stock fan, 6 blade...

Re: Upgrade to 3g alternator and dual electric fans
Fan is about 1/2" from radiator and halfway in the shroud. All new hoses don't know cap rating. I have a flex fan coming in a day or so to try and pull more air at idle. It is just a $45 experiment. Fan sizes are 15" can't fit larger due to auto trans lines at radiator. It doesn't boil ove...

Re: Upgrade to 3g alternator and dual electric fans
Thanks that is the kind of info I am looking for. Fresh rebuilt motor new three row copper radiator. New pump new everything. Six blade steel fan. I already have a 130 amp 3g alt on the way. Hope it mounts up. Heat just goes up to 200 if I idle in gear in 95 degree heat for a while. That needs to st...

Upgrade to 3g alternator and dual electric fans
I have a 66 mustang and added ac. Running the six blade derale fan with a custom shroud. Not cool enough creeps up at idle everything is new. What kit for the alternator conversion and which dual electric fans fit this small radiator and inline six? What and where to buy?

Initial timing set at 12. I had it at 16 and put it back to stock spec. If a v8 car can run ac with same size radiator why can't my six? Rad is just an autozone three row.

66 mustang 200 idle quality
I cheated because I didn't have a new top carb gasket so I carefully coated both sides with permatex. Well upon reassembly, the little shake I had at idle is gone. I know the top half of the carb is warped and I filed it flat as best I could but still had a shake at idle. The permatex sealed it all ...

The accel pump discharge nozzle had a piece of dirt in it. I wasn't getting the full shot. I took the top of the carb off and cleaned it out. Now it runs fine. Can only squeal the tires around a turn now the new ones are too sticky!

Re: Retune 1100 after rearend gear change
The tires are only .33" taller. According to the online calcs that should bring the 3.25 down to an effective 3.2 ratio. I got the bog out of a mashed accelerator in the previous setup just need to do it again I suppose. I want to get that taken care of then see if I want to do dist changes.

Retune 1100 after rearend gear change
I have a pretty fresh 1966 200 with a 252 cam, raised compression, 1100 carb and a c4. I got the carb tuned to perfection(well as close as I could). Then I swapped a ford 8" in with 3.25 gears instead of the 2.83 it was born with. All new V8 drums all around along with wider 21570r14 tigerpaws....

Re: Driveshaft length
The c4 doesn't have a "hard " seal it is almost like a bellows in that it can be pushed towards the trans and will spring back. It surely doesn't slam against the transmission.

Maverick 14x6 5 lug
I picked these up for 50 bucks. I know they are ford. Think they are early 70's maverick. Fit fine except the center hole is 2.75 and the stock mustang wheel center hole is 2.5 inches. I will be relying on the lugs to center the wheels is that ok?

It goes better than it has since I bought it in 1989. Putting a 66 8" rear with 3.25 gears taking out the 2.83. That should help also. Got what I think are maverick rims 14 x 6 five lug soon on also.

Dont have any pics yet. These all interchange with each other. Only thing is one ring gear is 8" diameter and the other is 7 3/4. It says so on the fordification tables on the internet. I just thought all 8" rears had 8" ring gears.

Ring gear size ford 8"
Picked up an 8" mustang rear 1966 with 2.80 gears. Also got a carrier with 3.0 and one with 3.25 gears. The 3 25 came from a 63 fairlane and has 7 3/4 ring gear. The 3.0 is a later maverick piece with an 8" ring gear. All supposed to be compatible with the ford 8" rear. What is up wit...

More power than ever, even with 2.83 rear with a c4. Stomp it and I get a little bit of tire squeal! About 2500 rpm at 70 mph pretty neat. Still only around 12 to 13 seconds 0 to 60 mph time on the street. I considered a v8 but hated to pull the original motor out. A ds11 and headers are interesting...

Old thread but I am trying to decide to change to v8 or keep the 6 cyl spindles. I bought the car in 1989. In the next two years I had both spindles break at different times. Luckily at low speeds. Well I have more power than I ever did in the 27 yrs I owned this mustang. Tires chirp a bit with a 2.83 rear. So far so good. Next step is the dist and carb. The head being available is great though at a high cost. Gotta think that one over. It sure would be nice.
