Re: Air-cooled Cruiseomatic behind a 223

My 1960 Fairlane 500 has an air cooled 3-speed dual-range cruiseomatic behind its 223, along with a 3.10 final drive. The data plate in the door jamb is coded for this combination, but I have found no reference to this drivetrain combo ever being offered. Even the factory manual only provides info ...

Re: Ford 226 H motor gas pedal linkage

I strongly suspect that your only option on this one is the old trial and error method, starting with a stock original firewall carb linkage setup to give you a base to work from.

Re: 223 Intake performance. Offy or Clifford

IMHO,you just can't beat a 3 x 1 intake with small single barrel carbs on a street inline 6. It will give the most power as well as the best gas mileage.

I'm looking for one for my 226 flat 6 Ford.

Re: 223 "performance" expectation management

Thanks for the confirmation! Is the experience much different with a manual? I'm guessing the manuals typically have a higher axle ratio which should help with the pep. Next big question is, how much difference can I expect the usual hop-up items to really make? The closest thing I have to compare ...

Re: Anybody bought a new cam for a 223 cu.in lately?

Has anybody bought a new cam for a 223 cu.in 6 cylinder lately? I have looked at some of the popular choices websites with no success yet. Some guidence would be appreciated. I've had very good luck with Delta Cams http://deltacam.com/ . Can't beat their prices, and they seem to have a large stock o...

Re: 226 Flathead Six - What's it worth?

I'm looking at selling the six out of my 1950 sedan, along with the three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Anyone know what I could get for this? I've put it several places for $250 for both, but nothing happening. Is this only good for a boat anchor? Or am I advertising in the wrong place...

Re: Any interest in a new dual carb intake?

I would be more interested in a 3 x 1 intake for a 226 Ford,as well as a set of cast iron headers for a 226 in a 51 Ford car. The 3 x 1 intake is a MUCH better balanced intake for a inline 6 than a 2 x 1. Easier to turn,makes more power,and even gets better gas mileage. Plus,from a manufacturer/reta...

Re: what late model i 6 engines are compatible with the 215?

Ok,am I right in assuming a FOM bellhousing for a 215 will bolt to a 223 block? Will it also bolt to a 51 226 flathead 6 block? The 51 was the first year of the FOM,and in 52 Ford switched to the OHV 215 6. Hard to believe Ford made a "one year only bellhousing" for an optional engine. I n...

Need FOM bellhousing for my 51 Ford 226 flat 6 engine

Already have a rebuilt 51 FOM,torque converter and flex plate, but I need a bellhousing to make it work. Will a FOM bellhousing from a 215 or 223 OHV 6 bolt to my flat head 226 engine? If it will, does anyone have one for sale? Also,I am ASSUMING the manual trans starter will work with the FOM torque ...
