As I've been running my engine with the body off (Bronco) I'm realizing JUST HOW MUCH heat is rising off the headers. I got it running, but there were so many fuel leaks in the lines to the outer carbs I just removed the outers. It will run but only if I'm giving it gas, it will not idle. I have electric pump pulling fuel from a gas can on the ground. My question is, could vacuum leaks contribute to or cause this, ...

Thanks man, I ordered 3 of them and 3 air filters. I went to the Speedway website because eBay had some shady language about contacting Speedway to ensure shipping would not be charged on each item, but there was no contact info! lol

Both the MSD Box & HEI Module run on 12V. Allows a higher coil output. Your DS11 distributor curve is a mystery. Yes the engine will run, but probably not to its peak potential. Bill This makes sense, but what is an MSD Box? Do I need one of those as well? And again how much to recurve a dizzy?...

yes should be a hex weight...did you by chance turn the carb upside down when you removed the top?

Reached a stopping point, just wanted to update post, got port divider installed and adapter mounted, head installed obviously, found some fat o-rings for adapter but still may need to apply some rtv to seal completely.

Got the log ready for the Offy adapter, my mig welder had no gas and couldnt get my arc welder to join the two so I found this stuff we'll see how it works

I would have a valve job done if not for 2 things; 1) time, I only have the chassis until the body comes back from blasting, which could be any time and head work will take a week 2) head has a broken 'ear' for the rearmost exhaust...

By the way disregard the coolant in the lifter valley, it was just fresh oil that resembled coolant (I'm super-color blind)

So I've had my chassis the past week, got it all cleaned up, 2 coats of POR-15, drivetrain painted, now I've got some time to play, thinking about installing the Offy adapter and the 3/4 exhaust port divider...will keep you posted. (Pic is just adapter bolted on)

Jeff, My 68 has a 170, and has solid lifters. I'm reasonably certain, after doing a little research, that Ford never put hydraulic lifters in Bronco 170s. Thanks I think thats where I got the 'car-only' theory was from your 170.

When I was looking into the Duraspark upgrade I read (in more than one forum) that you could set the gap to .045-.055, so I thought .050 would be safe. I imagine I can lessen the gap carefully. Is there a way to tell which type lifters you have without pulling a push rod and looking? Its a 66 170 mo...
