'65 Ranchero coil spring issues

When I replaced the UCAs on my '65 200cid manual no air Ranchero I took the opportunity to perform the Shelby drop as long as I had everything apart but upon reassembly noticed that the front end was way too low: The UCAs were just resting on the rubber snubbers. Bad. So I took everything apart agai...

Yet another disc brake thread: 4-lug retention

I really kind of like my current wheels on my 200 six '65 Ranchero and would like to retain the 4 lug front end but would like to convert economically to disc brakes, so I've been looking at some options like the scarebird conversion: https://scarebird.com/index.php?route=product/product&product...

Re: 200cid carb alternates? D2Pf-EA?

Those Chinese clone YFAs sure do look tempting, but I picked up a used YFA [77 maverick I think] off flea-bay for $20 so here goes nothing! I am taking off the 2v that the previous owner had on the engine, and of course I'm losing the carb adapter plate that goes under it, but now I'm wondering is t...

Would you know the application that uses the small cap version? Thanks!

Re: ? re-curve?

try it as is, I'll bet ur happy. If not... go 4 the re-curve later. Plenty info on net ... Mr. Gasket (kit) springs, bend the tab, etc. Still not happy? C Farron or Bill here. Unfortunately I'm a visual learner, and I've been reading tons of threads and they go into the weeds very quickly...not qui...

Re: 200cid carb alternates? D2Pf-EA?

So I picked up an inexpensive YFA off flea-bay, and I already have the DuraSpark II setup ready to go. I'm thinking I switch both at the same time because the vac-0-matic and carb go hand in hand but honestly, there is so much info around here about DuraSpark conversions I can't figure it all out. I...

You could push it to another part of the yard ;) Sounds like you've gathered most of what you need and are on the verge of greatness  LOL! I park it on the street in front of my house. I've been here 17 years and the neighborhood has flipped from blue collar to two income/no kids white collar...

Ignition rehash with carb upgrade/change

Yeah, so sorry for blowing up the forum, but I've been sitting on my Ranchero for soooooo long and things need to break free soon, the weeds are getting too tall !! I've been stocking up parts for mods/upgrades since last November, and ciritical mass is nearing, and I'm concerned about two inter-rel...

Re: 200cid carb alternates? D2Pf-EA?

Howdy Raf: The carb, D2Pf-EA, is likely a Carter YF. they are good carbs but may require some adaptation; linkage, fuel line and may not be compatible with your distributor. What's the problem 1100? Adios, David Mainly, I don't have one! And looking around cores are north of $100 then a rebuild kit...

Re: NEW Chinese 1100's !!

Howdy again Raf: Man, you're all over this place. No, the YF clones will not be compatible with your Load-o-Matic distributor. The last time I looked for a rebuild kit for an 1100 it was $47. The clone YFs may be a good deal. We have yet to hear of one of ours jumping in and using one. Adios, David...

Re: THERE IS A VIDEO FOR A WEBER CONVERSION FOR THE 200

Wow so much good info around this place, hard to know which way to go...I have a cranky Holley 5200 I want to toss and have been looking at the chinese YFA carbs for under $100 but this Weber think is intriguing too....what is the decision tree for deciding the best carb setup for these ole 200s?

Re: NEW Chinese 1100's !!

Oh man this could be like lucky month...first I score an entire 289/C4 '65 Rancho Deluxef for five bills, but now THIS! I've been wanting to get rid of my 2bbl and return my 200cid to 1bbl and that "$85" YFA looks pretty good although 1] I don't see them for quite that cheap 2] would they ...

200cid carb alternates? D2Pf-EA?

The Autolite 1100 seems a little spendy for a little 1v fuel mixer, has anyone had experience with the Maverick carb D2Pf-EA which are cheap on ebay? Or other recommendations? THanks!!

Re: 2 new starters, same problem

When I was a kid back in the 70s we had a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7, and one morning went out to start the car to go to school. No crank. Neighborhood garage tows car in. Someone stole the starter right off the car in our apartment parking lot. Mechanic installs rebuilt starter. Works one week, then s...

1) Mystery solved. When I bought her the PO said she was a 1964, and the title said 1964, but everything pointed to it being a 1965. Just got the new title, and yep, 1965. Oh well! 2) Truck is in much better condition than I anticipated….I wanted a rust bucket to kick around in but now it seems way ...

So I get myself a classic truck finally and I'm making a list of things to do mechanically (already has a Holly 2v, going to add Duraspark w/79 Fairmont distro, Geo MC and booster, etc.) but I'm looking for opinions/advice on exterior work. The body is in good shape except for one rotten spot right ...
