The DP forces you to run the carburetor sideways with the fuel bowls over the rising heat from the exhaust manifolds. There have been complaints of the sideways orientation affecting carb operation during turns. The runner divider does decrease the area and may limit upper rpm power. Get the "...

Looking at either the Offenhauser 6019DP or the Ofy 6227C. Will run a small Holly 4 barrel initially. Engine is being totally rebuilt. Is bored 030 over. Will have a mild cam and a header....... thoughts?

Looking to order an oil pump and pickup tube. Summit has two from Melling. One with a .469 tube and one with .500 tube. Which would be the best for my engine. Don't know what the stock tube diameter is since it didn't come with one.

I had to file them to get proper clearance. They were almost closed up when first trial fitted. I got one of those ring filers from Summit, works great.

Got the pistons ringed and replaced the damaged bearing. It wasn't so painful after all.

I just checked the 2nd ring gap and it is 0.013 The 300 manual calls for 0.010 - 0.020 which is where I am at now. The guide in the post above states 0.020 - 0.022 Which would you use?

The oil ring gap from the manual is:0.015 to 0.055. Have done 2 pistons so far all 4 oil rings have been exactly 0.024.

What did you decide on for pistons and camshaft? I already ordered new bearings will be here this week. That was screwup #1..... The block had to be bored 030 over to clean it up.. 300 distributor

My block is an '81 according to the numbers. It did not come with a distributor. I am building a track roadster themed car with this engine. Did the 300 ever come with a points distributor? Would any other points distributor such as out of a 302 work with this engine?

The bottom half of the 300 EFI intake manifold makes a 90* turn upward. You can make a plenum that attaches to the end for any combination of multiple carburetors. Since the engine is at a slant you can cut the intake partially into the 90* turn for the attached plenum so the carbs sit straight up....

This may seem like an odd request, but does anyone make an intake that rises? I want to be able to make an exhaust that all six pipes come straight out of the engine and out the side. All six pipes will then join into one and go down the side of the car.

I will check into the rod issue with the machine shop. Thanks for the heads up. As far as the cam, I am not into top end speed, too old for that. I would like a lopey sound, but first and foremost I want excellent acceleration. This car will only weigh about 1500 - 1700 pds. I will certainly replac...

boring 0.30

Machine shop just called and he recommends boring my 300 block 030 over. There are ridges built up and a couple of cylinders are slightly out of contour. Knowing this, what brand of pistons would you recommend? If I am going to bore it, might as well hop it up a bit.
