300 distributor

My block is an '81 according to the numbers. It did not come with a distributor. I am building a track roadster themed car with this engine. Did the 300 ever come with a points distributor? Would any other points distributor such as out of a 302 work with this engine?

THanks

Re: 300 hop up

The bottom half of the 300 EFI intake manifold makes a 90* turn upward. You can make a plenum that attaches to the end for any combination of multiple carburetors. Since the engine is at a slant you can cut the intake partially into the 90* turn for the attached plenum so the carbs sit straight up....

This may seem like an odd request, but does anyone make an intake that rises? I want to be able to make an exhaust that all six pipes come straight out of the engine and out the side. All six pipes will then join into one and go down the side of the car.

The stock pistons you have now are the highest compression "Off the shelf" pistons for the 1965-1986 300 head @ 8.7 The problem with the cast pistons if you use them for extended higher rpm the skirts will break off into the oil pan. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/39382077/Ford%20six...
