I think the price of the heads are very good. We only have to buy one head for the 300. Look at the price for a pair if medeocre 460 heads for example. Going fast just isn't cheap.

I don't think the weight is too much of an issue until he hits a good hill, which he can downshift to 3rd if he needs to, that cam will pull well at 4000rpm. Pulling that truck and boat on level ground at highway speed is like 2 parachutes.... I've pulled a lot more than 2000 without much problems. ...

Changing them means getting the machine shop to resize the rods as well. For a street engine that doesn't see more than 5000rpm I'd keep the factory ones. If I remember correctly the fitech systems can handle more power than the rating says. Its just rated a bit on the low side. The 400hp can do 500 or something like that and so on for the rest.

The ignition itself will pull very little at idle and can run on fairly low voltage.

Look up a 3g alternator swap. They're cheap and can be had in 130 amp versions. Everything can be found in a junkyard for like 30$

I don't think they are torque to yield someone else should answer as well. Also if you need to change the bolts the rods would need to be resized after pressing in new ones.

Tighten all of your coolant hoses first. Wipe down everything you think might leak so it's dry. Start it for a few seconds and have a look.

While apart valve guides should be checked for slop. If they are worn no amount of lapping will fix them for long... If you disassemble it yourself I recommend a valve spring compressor that holds the valve on the chamber end, and compresses the spring. Don't waste your time with the ones that grab ...
