Re: AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) For Ford 300 Inline 6

I think the poor city mileage is caused from a few factors, (1) the cruise AFR is to rich at 14.3, needs to be 15.5 - 16.0, (2) My Holley 2300 2bbl is set to flow 350cfm with factory 61 main jets and with it mounted on a 1x2 adapter on a stock 300 log intake there is no way it is flowing 350cfm. (3)...

Re: AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) For Ford 300 Inline 6

Well your trip really shows the affect altitude has on jet setting. You are correct that a lean condition will lead to a over heating problem. At sea level where I live in Southern CA 5 miles from the beach I just need to make sure I do not have any knock or ping. At sea level a 14.3 AFR is way rich...

jason832 & BigBlue94 -- Thanks for the information on your cruise & WOT AFR numbers. I am hoping that with my cruise AFR at 15.5-16.0 that it will bump my existing freeway mileage of 15.2 up to 17-18 and my city mileage of a very poor 6-9 up to 11-12. When I get my main jets set so my cruise...

Smart move, because if you have to go .060 over to clean the bores you may not have the cylinder wall thickness for it to work. I think .030 overbore is the normal max for a 300 block. Like you said don't waste money on a junk block. Your list of new engine parts sounds real good, good building.

Ed, So if you are currently running 140 Pri & 150 Sec and you may change to 130 or 135 Pri.
That makes a little more sense. So on the 5200 jets the bigger the number the more flow just like a normal Holley jet.

Are the 5200 jets a special type or are they a normal Holley jet style?
