Re: Max Plenum Volume On Offy C or Open Clifford Intake

FTF said that one rule of thumb is 1/2 of 300" for race motor or 150 cubic inches, so I took 1/2 of 150 for a built carbed street motor or 75 cubic inches, then 1/2 for a wormed over stockish rebuild carbed motor or 37.5 cubic inches max plenum area. With my volume measurement of 48 cubic inche...

If I might ask you a question on the YF & YFA carbs used on a 240/300. Are the throttle plates the same size? Do both have the same 2 11/16" CtoC bolt mounting? What is the main difference between a YF & YFA?

If it is 12 base + 20 centrifugal is 32. I would try it there and if you want a full 34 degrees you can bump the base up to 14 and see how that works. Good tuning.

Most of the time we are looking for 34 degrees ( 12 initial + 22 centrifugal ).
On my stock points dizzy I have to run initial at 16 as my centrifugal only adds 18 degrees. Works fine, starts easy hot or cold. This is on a 1971 F250 300 4.9L setup.
