Thanks Paul, I new that my 300 shop motor with the 240 head used the same 18mm plugs that my old cracked 300 EFI head used. I was not sure if all 300 4.9L motor heads used 18mm.

Yes the stock points distributor has the canister with the vacuum tube hooked to the ported nipple on the carb base and yes it does work. Thanks for asking.

Well made some modifications to the coil bracket BigBlue94 passed forward to me. Got it in my F250 today, worked out great. Much easier for this old man to get to the coil & connections with it straight up.

Are the Duraspark Distributor, MSD 6A box & Capacitive Discharge coil the only parts needed. What is the primary ohm's on that coil? Best place to get a good quality rebuilt Dura Spark Distributor? Does the system need a full 12 volts (no resister)?

In the picture below of a Ford 4500 4bbl carb one tube connection is caped and it was for a heat tube for the choke, I will not need to use it as I am going to convert to manual or electric choke. I second readjusting your lifter preload. If the pushrods looked to be in the middle of the lifter spring travel sounds like the preload is to much. Use pmuller9 method and you can't go wrong. Convertor stall would be the last thing I would look at, did it work fine with the stock setup? Good luck, ...

As your going to a lot of work getting the motor back to where you want it, I would replace the composite cam timing gear with an aluminum or steel unit, that composite gear will be trouble soon enough.

The BBC 1.70 ratio have a higher lift than the 1.60 ratio Harland Sharp. You will have to do some modification to the oil baffles in the stock EFI valve cover and you may need to run double gaskets or a spacer to get proper clearance. Sounds like Sealed Power & Summit use the term 5/16" rather freely. As the 300 head have round push rod holes and need guide plates installed (welded SBC adjustable plates do the job, but not sure a .3430 " push rod would fit a SBC guide plate. Thanks for posting the information.

Interested in the push rods you got that were to big on the OD. Who did you get them from? Were they "5/16" .3125" OD push rods as are OEM? If they were 5/16 they should fit any 240 / 300 head push rod holes. Got to say the washer trick is a lot less money than a new set of push rods....

Well as you have made three changes to the carb it is a little hard telling witch one was the problem. Do you think that the Air Bleeds Passages being plugged might be #1, Float level to high #2 & mismatched jets #3? Glad you got it running good again.
