I does not say anything about changing the oil but just says basically - start the car and check for leaks -. I th...

Rebuilt head installed ready to start. When to change the oil? Now or run it first?

I have the rebuilt head back on my 1967 Mustang 200 six engine. Have everything all hooked up and basically am ready to fire it up. I pulled the head off because my valve guides were shot and oil was being sucked down into the cylinders and fouling out my plugs right away. Now I have new guides, new...

Studs to mount carb to short on 200 6 stock spacer w phenolic. Where to get longer studs?

Car is a 1967 Mustang. I have the stock spacer that goes on a 200 six. The one that supports the throttle linkage and has the area where the heater hose will run through it. I'm adding a phenolic spacer and need the studs to be 1/2 inch longer. I was able to remove the current studs no problem. Anyo...

Re: Bad valve guides so pulled head - Couple questions about what to have done by machine shop.

The machinist has been doing the work for 45 years. He is an older guy in a large well known old school shop. Maybe he does have the equipment to measure the Combustion Chamber Volume? I did not ask because I did not realize it was required. The head has not been milled yet. Although when I said I n...

Re: Bad valve guides so pulled head - Couple questions about what to have done by machine shop.

I looked How To Calculate Combustion Chamber Volume on the web and it seems to involve pouring some type of liquid into the head? Is that the only way to figure it out? Not sure the machinist is going to have the set up to do that. He asked me where to measure so pretty sure pouring liquid in there ...

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should ask for a 3 angle performance valve job and have intake valves cut back - Will do. Will also have the new guides milled and fitted with viton positive seals. If I do need valves I will ask the machinist about getting the bigger ones. The rocker shaft real...

Bad valve guides so pulled head - Couple questions about what to have done by machine shop.

Car is a 1967 Mustang 200 - I have a couple other posts here first asking about the valve seals then another when I realized my guides were worn and the valve stems would wiggle around. I pulled the head yesterday and dropped it off at a local machine shop that was recommended by a friend. Was happy...

Appreciate all the info. The plan is to suck it up and pull the head. Not happy about it though. I only have 25 or 30,000 on the engine since it had a full rebuild. Guessing they only knurled the guides then so that is why I'm having to do this  . I do want it fixed right. Will have the new gu...

Thanks for the replies. I spun the engine by hand and lowered the rope down so the the valve would drop a 1/2 inch. Wiggling is worse like that. Has a nice solid clunk clunk noise as the valve stem hits either side of the guide walls. Sounds like I will have to pull the head. Here is my question. If...

Hi, problem was before all of the new parts.

"you should ohm out the wire from the coil to the distributor"

Do you mean the wire hooked up to the coil - side? How do I go about doing that?

Probably disconnect both ends and set meter to ohms I guess. Should read zero resistance?

As the RPM increases you will see a higher voltage to a point simply because the alternator is putting...
