Re: 1993 f150 A/C compressor doesn't cycle, no voltage at plug

Thanks B RON CO, I have full gauges with valves so it let's me read hi side pressure without connecting the hi side to the can. I could only add 3/4 of a can with the car running, maybe if be able to add more when it's off? Heater works fine but does the same thing, blows great on full blast, shuts ...

Re: 1993 f150 A/C compressor doesn't cycle, no voltage at plug

Well, i pulled vacuum down to about 27 inHg, closed the valves and it held it steady for twenty minutes. I added in r134a(the system is still an r12 system but if it's broke I'm converting it anyways) with the engine running, the compressor would cycle but it really wouldn't take more than about hal...

Re: 1993 f150 A/C compressor doesn't cycle, no voltage at plug

If there isn't any freon in the system due to a leak or leaks the compressor won't work until that's taken care of, or its refilled. Ie it has a pressure switch in the system to protect it. Good luck   I was hoping this would be the case. I'll drain and fill tonight. If it then works ...

1993 f150 A/C compressor doesn't cycle, no voltage at plug

Hello, I have a 1993 f150 that does not appear to have been converted to r134 yet. When I turn on the AC, air comes out the vent but it is not cold. I popped the hood and the compressor doesn't cycle. I pressed a valve and not much pressure came out. I pulled the plug on the compressor clutch and co...

Re: 1993 f150 emissions problem - Arizona

I got under it and saw the vent line on the forward tank was cracked. Ipulled the bed and replaced all the vent lines and it passed! Thanks MechRick!

MechRick wrote:The purge valve and associated hoses should be a visual inspection. Pressure testing should be from the canister toward the tank(s).

Re: 1993 f150 emissions problem - Arizona

Thanks! So basically just check the lines from the fuel tanks to the canister, and then the one line to the purge valve? That should be it? I'm assuming they clamp the lines just before the canister then. How likely would it be that the purge valve is bad? I'm assuming they can't test the charcoal c...

Says tamper evap bad, but the evap on the slip says pass and the pressure test says bad.

1993 f150 emissions problem - Arizona

Hey all, I'm picking up a 93 f150 with 4.9L. It failed the pressure test for AZ emissions several months ago when the previous owner took it to be tested, but the only thing I've been able to locate is the breather line into the air box was loose on the air box end. I've refitted that, but does anyo...

Re: 1986 F250 300 i6 efi conversion, SAS and more

Going to ask some dumb questions because I'm clueless On the SAS, for the front end: Did you use the driveshaft from the super duty? Is the steering still the normal frame mount or did you have to do something different/relocate it? So did you end up relocating the perches on the front axle or just ...

Re: 94 f150 steering column won't slide on to steering box input spline

Well, several months later, the problem is finally solved. Every other Saturday it so I would head out to the driveway to tackle the issue again. I removed and reinstalled the steering box several times, cleaned and lubed both mating pieces several times, and had my wife rotate the steering wheel sl...

I'm not sure, I mean I tried rotating it all around. I've fought it for several hours.

94 f150 steering column won't slide on to steering box input spline

Well the title says it, I have a 94 f150, I replaced the steering box, but I'm having trouble getting it to mate with the steering column. When I took the old box out I had to yank with all my might, so I figured it might be an issue, but I've probably got about 10 hours into various attempts to get...

Re: Datsun L24

What if I include cylinder egt probes on each exhaust runner? While not a perfect plan, this should at least get me a little bit of an ability to tune fuel to each individual cylinder. The car this is going in will get put away for 6 months every year. I plan to use a fuel stabilizer, but even stool...

Re: Datsun L24

Just curious, why is a carb so inherently better than a proper port fuel injection set up?

Electronic ignition with coil on plug and port fuel injection should make all the power a carb can, and be more efficient.

Datsun L24

Hey all, so aside from my Ford 4.9 I have one other inline 6 in my life. I have an L24 out of my 1973 240Z. Any other foreign six fans here? My plan is to convert it to Port fuel injection, electronic ignition, and if I can afford all the machining, build a set of ITB's of my own design. I'm going t...

94 f150 from Phoenix az

Hello all, I've got a 94 regular cab long bed f150. I'm from Phoenix AZ, I drove this truck in high school and twelve years later my dad still owned it. My brother wrecked it and I got it back from the insurance. It's got about 250k miles. I'm fixing it up to keep in the family forever. I love the s...
