It looks like the 3158H is the way to go. They are in stock at Summit and based on your findings, will give me a compression ratio in the mid 8s.

I already have one of these motors torn down, so I'm sure I could come up with the stock retainers. It's just a matter of finding them.

CCs came out pretty good, my machinist says they are 78, 78, 79, 80, 82, and 80.

My machinist says that a 1.84" is the largest he can make work without having to press in new seats. He will be sourcing the valves, so now I am just waiting to hear for the results.

Big c-clamp and a socket should be all you need. Put the socket over the spring and use a big c-clamp to press on the valve and socket. You will hear a pop when it frees up, then you can use a regular valve spring compressor to remove the locks/keepers.

A healty stock engine can handle a lot of boost. There are numerous examples of 300s running turbos with very little bottom end modification. It’s detonation that kills engines.
