not all were reverse rotation, just one side of a pair in the two engine versions. Singles engines were standard rotation.

I had a truck once do something that sounds similar, would crank and fire but die with a flame coming out the carb. It occurred to me that as I was cranking it it sounded a little odd. Turned out that the exhaust was plugged. May or may not be your problem but if all else is good it's worth checking.

Suspension seats are common in agricultural equipment as well, with adjustment to allow for operators of varying weight. Some tractors have suspension under the cab too.

those early 80's four speeds had removable aluminum bell housing and the nice part is the hydraulic slave cyl was mounted externally.

I have the EFI exhaust manifolds on my carb head without drilling or tapping the extra holes, just use whats there. I had to grind a little clearance to fit under the carb intake but thats it. They are fun to line up

curious if you could inspect the dizzy you removed, try to drive the roll-pin out to see if it is in fact sheared and if the original diagnosis is correct, what would cause this and is the replacement that was put in without reinforcement just a temporary fix that may likely suffer the same fate.

put a 2.8 v 6 in a chevette and fired it up, no oil pressure and lots of racket shut it off and throw the keys in disgust into the ashtray...on the oil pump drive shaft

the M50d has a very high reverse ratio, makes it hard to back up a trailer and could set land speed records in reverse. our family ride was a 79 gmc suburban and my dad was a chevy man through and through but I guess I rebelled and now i have him driving a 11 ranger 4.0 4x4 that I put super swampers on for him so he wouldn't get "stuck on a wet kleenex" and he loves it. This ford bug must be a bit contagious.

all it takes is one tiny particle to get past the filter (you have put a new one on i'm sure) and the carb will overfill because the needle doesn't close. disassemble, clean, re assemble and put a new filter on you should be good to go.

I had a similar problem on my 85, in addition to removing the key/lock assembly I also dropped the steering column and lubricated the switch that is operated by a push rod from the key/lock. After a good clean up of both parts and some lube it worked as new with no new parts needed.

the tod is a slip yoke i believe, and the zf is fixed. you will likely need to have a slip spline in the drive shaft. The hydraulic is internal in the zf, rather than external in the tod and I think the holes on the fire wall may need to be re-drilled to clock/index the master to sit vertically. You...

would it be possible that the priming tool should be made from an old distributor as part of the body/shaft that goes into the block creates channels that direct the oil to the lifters and the top of the engine?
