It would still be reverse rotation, as the v-belt routing never changed.

Just a word of advice, if you do run any caustic substance through the engine, neutralize it when your done. You won’t ever get all the solution out without pulling the engine, so run a gallon or two of vinegar through it.

I’ve had a few spark plugs on cyl 6 loosen up and cause a misfire before in my old truck. It’s important to retorque everything after a few heating cycles to make sure nothing moved.

Check your driveline fluids, and your wheel bearings. Also look for dragging brakes, or sticky ebrake pedal. You have to remember these are 20+ yr old vehicles, and maintenance goes a long way

As long as you don't clutch dump it wide open the 5-42 be fine but that would break any other transmission too. Transmissions generally have no problem taking more than they're "rated for" so long as you don't try and make them do it at the absolute lowest RPM. Considering your goal is 60...

I was looking into a similar setup, divided pipes into the flange and twin external wastegates. I’m using a tp38 from a first gen Powerstroke. It’s a counter rotation turbo I don’t know if that placement would work though.

The 240 rods on the 300 crank gives a better rod/stroke ratio. It increases the dwell time at top and bottom dead centers, but as pmuller has said many times it requires a custom piston as the compression height ends up around 1.29 inches.

The rocker studs were installed with red locktight. The bowtie wear on the valve stems from the roller tip is because the valve can rotate, otherwise it would be a line. I’m fairly certain it’s not the gasoline that’s the issue, it’s the off boost vacuum that’s generated pulling oil into the intake tract because the turbo is seeing vacuum being below the throttle plate.

Yeah those 4/6 exhaust valves look burnt, did you do a compression test before you pulled the head? Maybe the cam lobes are worn, causing less valve lift, possible not drawing enough a/f mix into those cylinders? I don’t know, but usually 3/4 are the richest on the carbed heads I’ve pulled, with 1/6...

Yea I’ve heard that any intake backfire on these carbs can blow the diaphragm on the accel pump. There’s no safety built in to prevent it.
