I’m thinking about welding a piece of 1” pipe onto a c clamp tomorrow, and using that to break the varnish that’s got them stuck. I did watch a video on the socket and hammer trick though. Stuck valve locks

Does anyone have any tricks for removing stuck valve locks? I’m trying to disassemble my head for cleaning and inspection and I cannot get these valve locks to free up. With the valve spring compressed with a lever I made up I cant even push the valve out of the retainer with my free hand. Any ideas...

A 1.15 A/R turbine housing is on the large side for a 240 six as far as low rpm response. Good for making high rpm power. I wouldn't expect the engine to start pulling hard till 3000+ rpm. A 300 would have a much better low rpm response but you would not run it much past 5500 rpm. It depends on wha...

Does the combustion chamber shape allow for a 5cc dome piston? That could compensate for large chambers as long as it doesn’t cause interference. Sure. A 5cc dome would be about .035" high or about the thickness of the head gasket so it wouldn't actually go into the combustion chamber. Not sur...

Moldex and Scat are about the same price as well. Until there is a cylinder head capable of allowing the 300 to make horsepower in a range that a billet or even a forged crank is necessary, there is really no concern as to whether a cast crank is more than adequate to fill the bill for any builds, ...

Well he won’t sell them individually, and they don’t even include the pumps. I was hoping I could convince my boss to buy them for the pumps, they’d come in handy when the dry dock pumps freeze up and we need to de water the tanks. All well.

What is being overlooked is that the 76cc chamber heads for turbocharger projects are also getting hard find and since this engine is set up for propane the head should have the hard exhaust valve seats. My understanding is the bolt pattern matches sbc fuel pumps, just the pump arm swap to make them work. The efi cover I recently picked up to make my PBF cover taller is the same height, it’s the width and length that’s smaller, about 3/16 in both directions. I’ll try and get a picture.

My dipstick used to pop all the time, then one day the truck ran terrible after engine braking on an off ramp. Blew the PCV right out of the valve cover. The rubber line from the pcv to the carb was collapsing during high manifold vacuum.

Its going to get tig welded to finish, and the guy doing it is certified for aluminum hull work on our high speed ferries. I'm not to worried about it leaking. Those were quick spool-o-matic passes so I could get some measurements.

You dont polish intakes, you port them. Unless you've done major headwork there's no reason to port the intake either, it more than likely flows better than the intake ports in the head.

I think the 96 MAF equipped trucks were essentially cam sensors, I may be mistaken but I recall the ignition was computer controlled, and the distributor shaft was used as a sensor.
