Rear hubs stuck? Or am I missing something?

I've been hammering on this thing and lubing it. I've released the wheel cylinder so it spins freely. It just won't come off! https://photos.app.goo.gl/KCRpK17TyrUPLyWp7 https://photos.app.goo.gl/KCRpK17TyrUPLyWp7 [image] https://photos.app.goo.gl/KCRpK17TyrUPLyWp7[/image]

Re: Break troubles.

Depends did you use the stock hardware kit with self adjusting or the manual type? With the manual type you adjust them until the drag enough to stop the wheel from being turned by hand then back them off so there is no drag. How you assemble the brakes can make a difference too. The self adjuster ...

So I am trying to refresh my breaks, they weren't working hardly at all. I replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes and hardware on the front wheels. Aftermarket ignition set-up question.

I have a MSD coil installed on my 250 i6. I just ordered a Pertronix 1261 Ignitor Autolite 6 cyl to replace my points. Do I need to run the Ballast Resistor (0.8 Ohm) for this set up? I understand this reduces the power to the coil so it doesn't burn up the points but now that I won't have points, I...

Re: Idling rough and won't run 250 4.1L.

Needed a ballast resistor. $7 at pep boys. Can't run 12 volts directly to the coil from the battery cause it over heats and also burns up the distributor. Problem solved.

I hear that! But unfortunately, it's a brand new carb and almost new fuel pump and it was running fine until I started messing with the ignition wiring.

Re: Idling rough and won't run 250 4.1L.

Well, I tested and tested and tested and I'm definitely getting over 12 volts to my coil but I'm still sputtering and barely idling and according to the timing light I'm not firing evenly. Is it safe to assume I either fried my coil or there is something wrong in the distributor?

Idling rough and won't run 250 4.1L.

I think I broke something. So I have a MSD ignition coil hooked up but for some reason I'm firing sporadically after it initially starts. When I hit the start position with the key, she fires up and runs smoothly for a few seconds. Then she starts to fail and the idle gets very rough. She runs enoug...

Re: Stumped on a charging issue..

The charging system itself is not complicated if you understand the basic fundamentals of how it works. Alternators are designed to run @ twice the engine speed or slightly more. The alternator has a variable output potential up to it's rating. In other words, assuming the alternator is turning fas...

Also, what is this thing? I didn't replace it. I found it on all the diagrams but none of them actually said what it was or what it did.

Weird charging issues..

I6 250 from 1969. I threw money at my initial charging issue and it sort of worked. Bought a new alternator, regulator and battery but now when the car is is idling I'm reading almost dead on 12 volts. I'm pretty sure that's not right. I tested the hot lead off the alternator and it's pumping like 2...

Re: Stumped on a charging issue..

I just studied the wiring diagram and realized I need to check the field wire and a few other things. So this topic can probably just die until tomorrow afternoon when I get done the rest of the diagnostic stuff. I bet it's an issue with the field wire.

12.7 approximately. Drops down after I start her but creeps back up after I shut the engine off.

Stumped on a charging issue..

So my i6 250 motor just doesn't seem to want to charge. Or I'm a moron and am expecting more than I should. I replaced the alternator (tested the replacement at Autozone), I replaced the regulator and got me a fresh new battery but when the engine is idling I'm reading 12.40 volts. It's not dropping...

Is a clutch all you need to get it back on the road? If so just get a clutch for a 1970 Econoline with a 240 engine and you will be good to go. Good luck   Yup, just a clutch for now. The engine runs like doggie doo but I think it's a carb issue. When I step on the gas it bogs, or sta...

Re: 200, 240 or 250? I can't figure out which engine this is.

So the general consensus is that is a 250 and not the original engine, which makes a ton of sense.

Now I have to make a tough decision cause I got a 302 V8 out of a 72 Econoline that I think is in decent shape.

I kind of like the gas milage on that 250 though.

So this conversation is exactly why I came here. Just to be clear, I've done a ton of research before I asked you guys and everything you just wrote about is why I made the OP. Most of the second Gen Econoline's definitely had Big Block. The Vin tag definitely states its a 1970, also, the obvious bo...

Try your question there in the small block Forum. The difference between the SB and BB (240/300) is the SB's intake manifold is integral with the head. They are separate on the BB.

Thanks! Definitely a SB then cause the intake is integrated with the head.
