Harmonic balancer came apart/update

Hey all, The constant battle to 400k mileage continues, getting real close though. Where to start. Harmonic balancer came apart, lucky it happened a few miles from home. Replaced water pump and thermostat. Deleted smog pulley, A/C and mechanical fan. Using a RPC 16” electric, works fine. Not pretty ...

Re: Need guidance on Master cylinder and slave cylinder

Hey guys, I appreciate all the replies and I am happy to announce the truck finally drove today. Turns out my issue was the distance traveled by the master cylinder rod wasn’t enough. Remedy, I pulled the clutch pedal assembly. Replaced the bushings and rotated the lever (had to pull it off, rotate ...

Re: Progress

Well, funny I just read that inquiry. Truck has been down for a month, long enough for a bird to build a nest and lay eggs. I just posted about the clutch hydraulic system. I got a good 8k hard miles on it. Then had to get it towed home. It’s a rough patch right now.

Need guidance on Master cylinder and slave cylinder

Hey guys, 96’ f-150 2wd, M5OD transmission. I am not getting full return on my clutch pedal and can not shift into gear. I have pulled the transmission. I have installed a new internal slave cylinder, clutch/flywheel, rear main seal, release bearing and new master cylinder (two new masters now) and ...

Re: Motor mounts

Nice, that’s what I’m looking for! I have to replace with stock mounts out of necessity at the moment. $30 vs $260. Tires and the exhaust first. Ole Thunder and I thank you!

Progress

1996 F-150 field find. Last post on here I was swapping to accel fuel injectors. They worked wonderfully. Then two weeks later fuel pump failed. Replaced that. Truck runs like new. I also finally replaced the leaking power steering pump and tensioner pulley. So I am proud to say zero squeaks and 1 l...

Motor mounts

Hey guys, I am in the need of new motor mounts for my 1996 F-150.I was curious if you guys have come across any poly-eurathane or higher density over factory type mounts? Everything I have found is for V8 set ups.

Re: Replacement fuel injectors

Hey guys, I replaced the injectors and man what a difference! The only pain I had was the factory quick connect fuel line breaking(when replacing filter) and the EGR being 22 years old. Aside from that I’m having a blast with it. I haven’t removed smog pump yet. I also need to weld the exhaust leak....

Re: Replacement fuel injectors

Cool, thanks for the time. I see what you mean. I’m still deleting it though. But really it made me think one change at a time. Injectors first. I’ll try post it up as I progress. Cheers

Re: Replacement fuel injectors

Don't delete the EGR. It allows you to run a lean mixture for fuel mileage while keeping the cylinder temps low. I might not delete it. But I’m still not convinced as why not too. But this how I see it: First, if I’m running a lean air/fuel ratio, my cylinder and exhaust temperatures would be highe...

Re: Replacement fuel injectors

Thanks guys. It’s really clean for 380k. Even cleaner now, I replaced the headlights since the photo. That’s why I had to save it from wasting away. But I am trying to start my own business soon and I need a truck. So, I tell myself. I will try post the progress with the fuel injectors (with A/F rat...

Re: Replacement fuel injectors

Hey, I looked at the Accel injectors (150615) earlier and the cheapest I could find was $262.45. I saw your reply and was like ehh, I can look one more time. eBay, $149.99 sold directly from Holley. Scratch and dent (only cosmetic flaw) free shipping. The deed is done. I’ll let you guys know how the...

Replacement fuel injectors

Hey guys, My 96’ F-150 flooded cylinder #6 with fuel. In fact, it filled the cylinder enough that the starter could not handle the additional load, cracked the starter nose cone. ( replaced starter) After pulling the plugs and cranking the engine fuel flew 20ft out of the cylinder. So, yeah, I’m in ...
