Re: Can anyone tell me what I have?

So it is an older block....I am curious about the head. It has pedestal rockers....what year did the 300s go to that?

Can anyone tell me what I have?

I pulled the 300 from my 78 F 150 and am curious as to what year the motor is. I know its not the original one.

What is this tag on my 300?

Starting my TBI swap on my 300 in an old 78 F 150 4WD. While pulling the manifolds I found this tag. Never having dealt with the Ford 6 bangers before was curious as to what it tells me

Which mini starter for an old 300.

I have a 78 Ford F150 with a 300 in it. It is a 4WD. I am not sure what year 300 it is.......pretty sure it is not the original motor. The starter is starting to drag and not engage at times. Curious as to which mini starter I can use. It has the 435 4 speed in it. Reading on here I gather there is ...

Re: Are all 300 [4.9l] thermostat housings the same?

I did get one of those ports like you have pictured in the junkyard, but like you said my probe was too long to fit in it. Where did you get the aluminum bung? Thanks.

Are all 300 [4.9l] thermostat housings the same?

I am looking for a way to easily attach a mechanical gauge to my F150. It is a 78 and has a transplanted 300, not sure which year, installed in it. I see that in 80-84 the F350s with the big 6 have a t housing that has a port in the radiator hose outlet. So my question is will all years of the 300s ...

Re: Mr Gasket 260

To be honest I only chose the Mr Gasket because of the opinions I read on here. The Felpro is about 1/2 the price of the Mr Gasket at A Zone. The truck has a Hedman Hedder on it at the moment and I will probably stick with that. I have been driving the truck for about 2.5 years an have had no exhaus...

Re: Mr Gasket 260

It sure didn't break at the fold. It is shrink wrapped, but there are no numbers or identification on the package.

Mr Gasket 260

This is the intake/exhaust gasket for a 4.9. I ordered one of these off Amazon and it came in 2 pieces. Is this correct? In every picture I see this is a 1 piece gasket.

Here is the manifold

So since I am thinking of TBIing it just join the two ports but leave the divider? That makes sense.

Re: Offy 5886 questions

So would it be worth it to machine out the four hole pad down to the divider? I have a mill at work so it would be easy and clean.

Re: Offy 5886 questions

Nobody knows the difference between the "C" intake and the 5886? I have seen a few threads on here showing the 5886 but none are answering the question of the differences between the two.

Offy 5886 questions

I ended up with an Offy 5886 for my 4.9 in a 78 F150. It already has a header on it...there when I bought it. Am curious if the 5886 is the same runner wise as the "C" manifold. Other than the 4 hole carb mount what are the differences. I am wanting to TBI the old girl. I just did this to ...
