Wanted: 300/4.9 Forged crank

I realize it’s doubtful, but I figured I’d never know if I didn’t ask.
So does anybody have a forged crank for sale, that’s in usable condition, or could be re-ground?

Re: Anyone here successfully running an aftermarket EFI System, Megasquirt, Holley Hp, Sniper, Atomic, FITech?

My apologies, as this doesn't exactly apply to your question, but I picked up a 4bbl sniper system, and in-tank fuel pump for use on a barely started 300 turbo build. It's still in the box... I'm not sure what the other systems require, but Holley strongly advises running 60lbs on your fuel system, ...

Re: not much discussed- crank case pressures zero gap rings

Been doing some digging trying to understand the issues being discussed. Ran across this, here: https://www.enginelabs.com/tech-stories/tech-how-external-vacuum-pumps-free-up-horsepower/ "The concept was first introduced by Bill Million at Hedman Hedders and initially developed on the engine dy...

Re: not much discussed- crank case pressures zero gap rings

Gahhh!! More complications. If I’m piecing things together right: the point of having constant vacuum on the crank case is to make sure piston rings, as well as seals, don’t have sudden changes of pressure applied to them (i.e. pulsating)? Thereby prolonging life? Any ideas how much longevity could ...

Thank you again Paul! We were searching for rod journal specs at the time and must have read the wrong size in another series of posts; thought it was 2.225. Just ran through a rough budget of parts the motor will still need, and guessing on custom forged piston cost (? $600 ?), and came up with $30...

Re: F-250 super cab 4x4 300 Turbo

Met up with the machinist last night. Talked about a lot, but with regards to the motor he’s pushing pretty hard for me to find a forged crank to use, get away from re-using the stock rods, and go to custom forged pistons to save on labor. Looked at some Eagle rods w/ BBC specs (6.200” long, with a ...

I’m looking at an offy single plane and Holley sniper EFI for ease of tuning vs carbuerated.

Yes '82 300 engine. Looks like I'll just need a new cap (has a hole), clean up the guts, solid state kit, and new gear; should be good to go. That reminds me: I still need to try and find some casting "stamps" on the engine. Holley Sniper EFI. Will most likely run me between $1600 and $200...

This also has me wondering about distributors: The one in the truck (429) is off the original 400, and looks like an early HEI unit that is still running an external coil, that's pretty sad looking. I was thinking I would just go with a Pertronix Flamethrower II kit for the six, as it looked like th...

1.6 ratio makes more sense, longevity wise.

For rods I just meant something that’ll hold up to boost for longevity but not force me to take out a second mortgage.

Your take on building a manifold: as far as “trapping” the intake; I’m assuming that’s because of the peculiar arrangement of “sharing” bolts between the two separate manifolds? I’m very new to inlines, but just disassembled mine last night, and found that shared bolt arrangement even more rediculou...
