if you pull the block , send it to be rebored, stick new pistons and bearings in then you'll have something worthy of your time. send it for balancing wiht the crank , flywheel, con rods, new pistons etc.. and then if you want to spend time and money on mods at least you have a good base. I did that...

my van started overheating. New alunimum rad fixed it. I'd try that first if you haven't unless it's a collector in which case you can rebuild it if you like. maybe you need more if you race it or something. My van has Overdrive and by the time it gets there you dont; really want to go much faster. ...

I found an online video that shows how to take the switch out which I have not yet.

I think there is a part that locks the steering wheel , it can be removed and then the steering lock wont' work but it isn't a necessary thing so far as I see, then probably no switch needed.

I have an 88 E150 van . I got in when it was cold and frozen and the chrome thing with ears around the ignition key wouldn't turn. I've got an 88 ford van. I believe it was converted to a wheelchair van when new. it's got the wheelchair lift, a very simple back seat with belts for three. Funny it never had headrests , even the front seats were the stock lowback buckets. it had under 100 KM and a very light life not being loaded...
