Re: 223 performance build...questions!

I had a set of forged pistons made for my 254 cu in flathead six at Ross Pistons in California. I sent them an old piston and required bore and they went from there. They even provided rings. A little pricey but worth it. Check out their website.

Re: New member with first Flathead

Kanter's is also a good source for engine parts. I used their parts when I rebuilt my 226 a few years ago. All domestic parts in old stock boxes. No Chinese junk.

Re: Where can I get parts for a ford 226?

I rebuilt my 226 about 15 years ago and bought everything from Kanter Auto Parts. All American made parts in Old Stock boxes. No Chinese Junk.

Try Kanter Auto Parts. I got all my 226 overhaul parts from them a few years ago. If nothing else, they may have a lead.

Re: Flathead 226 Headers

I've been getting that story from Red's for a couple of years. I modified a header from a 1960's Falcon or Mustang with a 200 cu.in six. I cut off the Falcon flange and used the Victory Headers flange with some short pieces of 1.25" mandrel bends. The outer ports lined up almost perfect, the tw...

Re: 226ci cam grinders?

Norfleet Cams in Dallas, TX reground my Ford Flathead six cam to an Isky 400 grind. They are very reasonable and have been in business since the 60's. Unfortunately, I do not have contact info but you can search on the internet.

Re: 50-226 Flathead Six Build

I bought all of my rebuild parts for my 226 from Kanter Auto Parts. Everything was old stock in original boxes, no import crap. Mine is .060" over with one sleeve. I've driven it about 30,000 miles since overhaul. It has a Nicson 2 x 1 intake and a Knudsen aluminum head. I bought both of them b...

Re: Carb question for 58' F100 223

If you use any silicone type sealer on the bowl gasket, use it sparingly. The ethanol in gasoline will turn any excess into blobs the consistency of "snot" that will end up in the main jet. Voice of experience. O'Reilly still has listings for Holley factory remanufactured 1904's. I had the...

Re: Rebuilding a 226

I have a .060" over 226 flattie in a '51 sedan. It has a 2x1 Nicson intake with square bowl Holleys, Knudsen aluminum head (about 8.25:1), pertronix electronic ignition, 3/4 regrind cam (I have the specs at home somewhere), and a homemade split manifold. It runs surprisingly good with a stock 3...
