Re: Help Please - Rear main seal rotating

Hi All, looking for some help. Been getting my butt kicked by the rear main seal on my 78 200 six. The engine leaked oil. I decided to change the pan gasket and rear main, while I had the trans out to fix the clutch. Installed per the regular wisdom and the advice of my dad, a 25 year Ford mechanic...

Not likely a cam gear failure as the 1965 motors have the metal timing gear sets! Recheck your distribtor timing. So are these failproof? No plastic over the teeth? One way you could clean up the short block without disassembly is to use a compressed air type solvent sprayer. The one I have looks like this https://source4industries.com/lincoln-siphon-spray-gun-5983?language=en&currency=USD&matchtype=&network=g&device=t&adposition=1o6&key...

I shifted mine fairly quickly but it is after all a truck trans. If you want a more performance use type trans then I would go with a world class T 5 Mustang 5.0, or better that’s rated for a good 275 to 330 Ft. Lbs. Torque or a Tremic for even more torque. Also the old top loader 4 speeds ( mid 196...

Those casting numbers indicate it’s a 1970 head, check the block numbers too maybe a newer engine was swapped in. Almost all sixes built in 1963 and newer will have hydraulic lifters and stock most of those are non adjustable rocker arms. So my best guess is you have a 1970 engine and there wouldn’t...

Stock these Falcon cars have a clutch return spring on the clutch pedal you would need to remove that if not using a 3 finger long pressure plate. Even so a diaframe clutch is hard to push up until it gets to the center point. Are you pushing the clutch pedal down to far over centering it?

Yes that crank would fit in your block, but is it out of a 170 or 200 engine? As to your other question the 144 rods are...
