Re: A/C compressors

Hey thanks, great info. Never heard of the Redtek but will look for it. From what all of you are saying I assume the compressors we use from the factory are it except if we want to convert to a jap model. I was really looking to use less Hp but still have cold air. - WB

A/C compressors

I know this is a bit off the performance subject BUT... I'm ready to put A/C back on the 250. is there a newer model compressor using 134 freon or something else that I should use which will work as good as the original but use less HP?

Re: Something squealing down there

Yes it is a new pilot bearing. The bell housing is solid except for a small window at the bottom so I don't know if I can see the throwout bearing. should the throwout bearing always touch the fingers on the PP?- I'll take the starter off and look for signs of touching the flywheel. Great tips! than...

Something squealing down there

Swapped a ZF for the BW T18. Got 1000miles on it and have heard noises from the bellhousing area from crankup. First the brand new Ford hydraulic throwout bearing sounds like it has and inch of slop after everything warms up. Mash the clutch pedal down and no slop noise. Also have a strange squeal/h...

My starter locks up when hot. Clifford split headers must be to close. Wrapped the starter with heat shield- didn't help. Does anyone know if I can use a later model high torque (smaller diameter) off a 5.0?

Header problems

I put the Cifford 3 into one headers on my truck and have a major problem with fit. The rear set collecter aims into the frame so it looks like I'll have to cut the frame or make a crazy bend in some pipe to get it down and back. Has anyone else had this problem?

Heating? the plenum base

I was just wondering why we heat the plenum base when other engines go to great lengths to cool the intake charge. Lotz of newly designed intakes have an air gap the keep the intake charge cooler and (hopefully) denser giving more horsepower. Our particular engine, the 300, needs just the opposite? ...

Wow FF that's good news! I hope you're right. The engine has only been run for a total of about 20 minutes and hasn't moved yet (driveshaft hasn't been installed). Re: fuel+spark= nothing?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, please. The exhaust stroke will have the exhaust valve open when the piston comes up, and the intake, to a certain degree of overlap. The intake will open on the next downstroke to fill the cylinder and then close as the piston comes up on the compression stroke. This i...
