its been a while but remember some like there were 2 or 3 170 head combustion chamber CC versions. also versions with smaller and larger valves. Currently on my 250 run the next to smallest chamber 170 heads milled .060 with the old thin head gasket.

back in the 70s before there was much of anything aftermarket for the small 6s made up my own pan. Used the stock pan cut the sump and welded on a road race pan conversion sump from someone like canton or mildron. went this route because of the cornering ability of the car would activate the low oil...

bEST BET WOULD BE TO FIND A AUTO PANT shop were they can fill a spray can with urethane catilized clear go for their top of the line clear. NAPA, some other parts stores that handle paint as well as some dedicated auto paint shops.

Had the same issue figure they are only aval from the MFG through summit. I ordered mine about the time this thread started. Looks well made havent had time to really compare it. The only thing I am contemplating is if it needs a bleeder valve. Probably wont truly decide until the old pump is remove...

I used to design turbos for Schwitzer Corp. We turboed several test engines for Ford including a 200 and 250 6s they were all blow through. Ford wanted us to do them in a draw through style we told them to shove it as we would not want to be involved in the warranty issues that would be involved.

Installed one on a 77 Tbird only a around 1000 miles on it though. GMB makes a lot of OEM pumps. Could tell a story about Ford using them on the mod motors.

Used the trans adapt 1BBL to 2BBL adapter which is setup for a Rochester 2BBL if I REMEMBER WHICh WILL FIT A 5200 WEBBER then an adapter on top of it that converts from the Rochester to a 2300 series Holley. When doing either of these set ups I do a bit of blending to improve air flow.

The way todays fuel burns it likes more initial advance less total than the old days in most cases. Basically just the opposite of the old specks more like as much as 16 to 20* initial and like 32 to 36 total. The Load O matic dizzys this can be a bit dificult. As for and additive I recommend 4Aces ...

The ground strap is the finger weled to the rim of the plug and centered over the center electrode.
How clean is the fuel tank / system. The deposits on the plugs could be contamination?
Leaks from the valve cover gaskets can be difficult to detect.

Oil often comes from a leaky valve cover gasket on plug threads. Looks also like you have too much total timing. The ground strap should turn dark half way through the curve (not past it) indicates proper total timing.

How many miles are on the engine how many on the plugs?

i BELIEVE THERE IS SOME INFO ON milling the CI head in the archives. Depending on how much is milled in the past with factory heads i would make spacers to fit between the rocker shaft stands and the head.

Started looking into assembly of my aluminum CI head.
Cant find info guessing valve HT should be set at 1.68 but with a spring seat and shimming Spring installed HT becomes 1.6.
Just want to be sure looking into using some beehive springs instead of dual springs.

With some tuning the 670 can be made to work but most likely not quite as well as a more proper sized carb. Things like a really stiff spring in the secondary so it comes in much later to possible not opening all the way and jetting can be a start.

From what I have read 65 front were factory and 68s rear would go back to this configuration before doing the above test I mentioned. Most of whai I have read about this carb is increasing the jetting used on 350s and more cu in engines. Best to do a bit of a restart here and be a bit more mithotical.

Ok so after everything we have done here is where it's at. Cruises around 12.5 until you go up a hill and then it will lean out all depending on the %. Specks on that cam will most likely want to idle around 1000 RPM. Idle AF might do best around 13.5 give or take. Get a power valve in there that for sure isnt opening at idle front and rear if it has both. If the idle feed screw dosent change much in or out its opening. Idle feed screws only adjust...

Best way to set initial is keep advancing it a couple degrees at a time. sHUT ENGINE DOWN then start it again add a couple more degrees repeat until the starter will barely turn the engine over. Back off about 5* from that setting. At that point initial timing should be within + or - 1 or 2* of best...

Before picking up a power valve do some highway cruising and read the vacuum gauge as sometimes idle vacuum and cruse vacuum fight each other.
