I saw a couple of Carter BBD on Ebay that were sold as cores. One was priced low that I recall maybe around $30? Could probably get parts for that but hard to know exactly what you are getting buying used carbs.

I would not mill the log! This log carb opening area is larger area of both throttle bores of a BBD. The BBD venturi is smaller than the bore size. Make it simple. I was vaguely aware of the BBD carb at one time but had pretty much forgotten about it. It is a good low cost 2v carb for most Ford six...

The Chinese YFA is a great carb for a good price. The BBD carb will outflow the YFA at higher RPMs. The strange thing about this BBD conversion is the exhaust tone of my hated old droning turbo muffler that I wanted to replace has changed. By the way there is a valuable resource for the Ford six owner known as the Falcon Performance Handbook. It provides information on maintenance, tuning and performance mods just for us. It will get you up to speed quickly on the Ford six and is worth way more than it cost.

If it is a US head it is a log head but it can be an improvement especially a later casting like 79 or later and carb like an 1101. What is the casting code on your current 200 head?

Reports are that the headlights are brighter with the relay and I plan to upgrade to a typical halogen lights so should have much brighter lights than now. Good upgrade for sure. If you want to get a quality DSII quickly contact wsa111 on this forum. You can still find them in wrecking yards occasionally but may not be a good unit.

If it was my Mustang I would probably go with the Autolite 1101 conversion which is one of the options in the Falcon Handbook. There is some work to fit it and all these carbs are old but if you can get it sorted out it is more cfm. That along with a properly curved DSII/ignition system and 2" ...

Cool Falcon to own I learned to drive in the same Falcon with a 170 and three speed. You could go to a 200 six and get very good performance. Look into getting a copy of the Falcon Performance Handbook. It has pretty much all the answers you need and will get you up to speed quickly.

Good buy on that head so congratulations. That head with a direct mount carb and cam sounds like what you need to go fast. Was the block for it a 200 or 250? Might be worth getting or disclose the location one of the members might be interested as the knock cause may not be fatal.

My Falcon Handbook states the 1101 has a throttle bore of 1 11/16" so maybe it is.

You could probably benefit from getting a copy of the Falcon Performance Handbook as it covers in detail various autolite carbs and fitting them to the 170.
