A good place to start from and develop a plan is with the Falcon Performance Handbook. It is a performance guide for mild to wild as they say, a reference tool and discusses trans upgrades and much more. An excellent value.

You have done some traveling in that Comet! I like that, they should be driven often in my opinion. Going from the 170/2 speed to your new hopped up 200 and c4 will be a huge difference. Smile time when pushing on the gas pedal. With that much power you could just go with a highway friendly axle rat...

I will confirm with my Handbook when I get home but I believe the head is a 1977 (good) and the block is a 1978, good also as far as I know because you can go with DSII distributor and a good non scv carb. Autolite 1101 or 2100, Carter BBD and Chinese large 1v for cheap on the Ebay is what I would l...

The more I drive my Falcon with the BBD 2 barrel the more I like it. It's the best upgrade that I have performed on this old car. My DIY manual choke is great. I don't have any pics of that or recall having seen 17" on a Ranchero but I believe that would look pretty awesome. Kind of a slot car look. I checked some specs and that could be a 225 50 r17 for 25.9" diameter. Hope someone posts some pics.

If this is the 200 that can be adapted to bolt on a T5 or other sbf trans without using adapters. I have been considering adding one of these to my inventory. If it was a conveniently located takeout, good running, complete, low mileage specimen I would possibly go up to 500. I would want to hear it...
