Re: Some stupid questions about modifying EEC-4

I'm sorting out the earlier MCU EECII style systems Hey xctasy, I'm curious what information you've found on this. I have a 81 zephyr 2.3l with the MCU system, and a 84 f150 4.9l with EEC-IV FBC and TFI. Trying to sort out the ins and outs of these systems so I can put them back together and get th...

Re: f- series dash illumination

no shorts, but I have had bulbs burn out (not too much of a pain to change really) I will say that, even with all the bulbs working and the dimmer all the way up, the dash still isnt that bright, especially compared to my other gauges (aftermarket, all using a single incandescent bulb) I think the d...

Re: battery, starter, soleniod relay still no start

I recently had the same problem with mine - truck had power until you tried to start it and then nothing. turns out the cable between the battery and solenoid was bad, and it caused a 10 volt drop  new cable and all was good 8) sounds to me like a wiring issue or the solenoid

Re: Help w/ basic settings on a 300

the emissions sticker should list both on it, but off the top of my head idle speed is usually around 700-800 and base timing is usually around 8-12 deg I think, but every engine is different so yours might like more or less.

if you jack up the front of the motor (carefully that is) after unbolting the engine mounts, you'll have enough clearance. jack it about 3-4 inches then stick some bricks under each engine mount and lower it onto them, and you're good to go.

The stories that say that Walmart refused to admit they screwed up are just that -- stories. It really depends on who you talk to about it - at least 90% of the managers just want the customer to be happy so they come back, so they'll fix something even if it wasnt actually walmarts fault. Ive work...

if I stumble on some more, Ill post them too.

Mechanical Tach ?

I have access to a 0-4K mech tach for free, and since Im never over 3K RPM, I find the 0-8K sunpro I have now is too much. What would it take (is it even possible) to hook up the mechanical tach on my 300? Its an '84 btw. If its too complicated or not possible, Ill stick with what I have now. Ive se...

all the walmarts around here have it, big, small, or bigger bottles ... cant remember how much though - Id assume most walmarts would have it, but stranger things have happened. Im sure someplace like o'reillys or autozone or simliar would have it.

good luck!

I was getting around 15 with it after I switched the TFI dizzy to a DSII, so maybe the advance on my TFI dizzy wasnt working correctly? I am also having issues with the first problem, so I cannot help there. But as for the second problem, it sounds like the choke and fast-idle stuff isnt working right - it should engage after you hit the throttle keeping it open wider (basically the same thing as having your foot on the gas, only le...

the idle speed is different, its a screw next to the throttle cable that rests against the carb body when the throttle is closed - screw in or out to increase or decrease idle speed

i think thats the anti-diesel dashpot, not real sure on the name of it, but you should be able to adjust it - i think you just take a wrench to the end that holds the throttle open and turn it one way or the other to push it further out or in. i dont have my old feedback carb to look at right now, b...
