:hmmm: Do yourself a real big favor before you start drilling those cut off bolts/studs.Get a good set of LEFT HAND drill bits to work with.A lot of times the heat generated by drilling will break loose the remains of the bolts/studs and they will back out with the brill bit,Use the penetrating oil ...

:hmmm: The original housing on my 84 F150 finally had to be replaced about 3 or so years ago.
It was aluminum.So,if you get a quality one it should last a long time if you keep up with maintaning the cooling system.

:hmmm: I don`t know for sure on the small 6`s,but there is a threaded hole on the intake manifold of the big 6 that a vacuum manifold screws into.It will give anywhere from 5 to 8 hookup points for vacuum lines.If all are not needed,just cap them off.One of those hookup points is for the brake boost...

:D Hi FTF those do look very familiar.Studebaker used a similar type in the early 50`s and later.The only difference is the Stude were a three piece.That is the two metal plates that had the mount studs were vulcanized to the rubber puck.

:D Fel-Pro also makes a"rubber"vc Gasket.Started using that brand way back in the mid 60`s.Have always been most satisfied.Your local parts house should stock them.

:hmmm: Stick with a copper/brass radiator.It weighs a bit more than aluminum construction but it will cool much better than aluminum.However,any decent radiator shop will be able to repair it(copper/brass) if it becomes necessary. Also, you could just have your present radiator re-cored very easily....

:D Well,got the old beast back on the road.Starter is working just fine.Took it to the local trans shop,and the owner did the through bolt fix.Was very reasonable too.Thank you Ronnie Inman at Inmans Transmission repair.
