I believe 5qt. Both pans are rear sump, and have the same dimensions.
The original engine/pan came out of a 1982 F250, C6, 2WD.

AFAIK the block and the pan that came with it are both '82. The pan I want to use is from an unknown year, and does not have the dipstick tube built in. I would really like to switch to a block-mounted tube.

I want to switch from pan-mounted tube to block-mounted tube (the original pan is boogered). It looks like the 1982 block will accomodate the dipstick tube, once I remove the allen head plug in the hole. Is this feasible, and does anyone know of a source for a new tube? No luck locally. Would it use...

What if it was sprayed on with a turbine spray system? I would think it would eliminate the roller marks and bubbles, and make the sanding a bit easier. Has anybody tried it?

Hmmmm...I'm curious about the power increase. The belt still goes around the same number of pullies, plus an idler pulley and a tensioner. Seems unlikely to provide any performance gain.

Have you tried a Ford dealer? I never understand why people automatically assume someone else's parts are better/correct/cheaper than the ones provided by the company that designed and builtthe vehicle to begin with! Are you mad at Ford Motor Co?

Do a search for Col. Flashman. He put a 300 in a '58 or '59 F100. Has pics of motor mounts, etc that will help you out a bunch.
