With an heavy duty 5 speed and a 2 speed drive axle like some of the bigger trucks came with one can do some 'truckin'...not fast but certainly move some serious weight.

Re: intake manifold heater

Fabricating one is fairly simple...a piece of 3/8 or 1/2 aluminum drilled and tapped for hose barbs or welded in and bolted to the bottom of the manifold, hook-up is inline with a heater hose and you are good to go. Do a search for photos...they have been posted many times here and on the FTE Forum.

I wouldn't worry about a shroud. The one that came on my truck has been long gone for years and it has never had a heating problem. It wasn't really a shroud so much as it was a curved guard across the top of the radiator.

Sounds like the float needle valve and seat might be leaking or there is something else in the carb leaking. While it is not common it isn't rare either...sometimes the pump develops a leak and gas goes into the crankcase...not good!

Anywhere from stock gap to a bigger gap like 50-60. Some of us use EFI spark plugs. Timing is more a matter of what your engine 'likes' rather than an arbitrary point. 8*-10* is a good starting point or use a vacuum guage and advance/retard to the highest steady reading and back off 1-2 hg as the st...
