Re: Gasoline leaking past carb into engine

Sounds like the float needle valve and seat might be leaking or there is something else in the carb leaking. While it is not common it isn't rare either...sometimes the pump develops a leak and gas goes into the crankcase...not good!

I used a 48" Lokar cable and bracket around the front of the carb and pulling from the bottom. Clearance for the cable is close with the heater box. Lokar is a bit spendy but one of the few things that is worth the price, JMO. Look here: https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/throttle-ca...

I don't think it makes any difference. On the Offy DP it is recommended that the primaries be next to the engine. I have seen a couple of postings over the years where they were oriented to the outside with no particular difference noted.

Re: Spark plug gap and timing recommendation on TFI to duraspark conversion

Anywhere from stock gap to a bigger gap like 50-60. Some of us use EFI spark plugs. Timing is more a matter of what your engine 'likes' rather than an arbitrary point. 8*-10* is a good starting point or use a vacuum guage and advance/retard to the highest steady reading and back off 1-2 hg as the st...

And that is about the extent of it now and in the foreseeable future. There is no final irrevocable one-size-fits-all answer. With an Offy C manifold you can experiment with 2v and 4v carbs. With the Offy DP you are limited to 4v carbs.
