Re: OK so now what?

It seems like this quandary is popular when it comes to carb size on these engines. Think of a 4v carb as a 2v with an auxiliary power circuit. Unless you go around with your foot in the throttle all of the time the engine will never see the carb secondaries opening and then only start to open betwe...

To the best of my knowledge, there is no 4v-2v adapter for the Offy DP. As old28racer says, the DP is for a 4v and it is not readily adaptable to a 2v.

Another place to look is the exhaust manifold itself and that may come with problems due to access. I had one that was cracked on the back side between the manifold and block...a real PITA to locate. It stayed that way until I did the rebuild with some mods including an Offy DP intake and the stock ...

That 'tick' might be an exhaust leak. Check the donut gasket between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. If it is blown out, it might make a ticking noise.

Mine jumps to 4000 rpm as easily as 3000 rpm but the rate starts to slow down at about 4500 rpm and hits the wall at 5000 rpm. That is on a mild/moderate build.

Looks like you are running headers? If so, that is where the heat is coming from. The water heat to the manifold would not be the problem as it runs the same thermostat controlled temp as the coolant in the engine and if anything should help.

Check the exhaust manifold for cracks and the 'donut' gasket where the manifold hooks to the exhaust pipe. These things can cause a 'ticking' noise. Might check down stream in the exhaust system for a blockage while you are at it. If the Cat has not been changed it is probably well overdue.
