Also was wondering if i should check my piston to valve clearance with stock length push rods, .456 lift cam and 1.7 r...

Re: Turbo on a carbed 300

Well I'm taking the fan off to put electric ones on and it's a single pass radiator thats on the truck now but it's gettin a double pass in a few pay checks and there's already enough room to put just the radiator. So I assume if I take the fan off it will be good to go. And wouldn't doing motor wo...

Re: Turbo on a carbed 300

If your motor sounds like it is about to throw a rod idk if it would be wise to install a turbo on it, but these motors make their peak power and torque at a relatively low rpm. As for the intercooler I'm not sure what to tell you on the brand, but I would imagine any ebay intercooler would be suffi...

Re: Holley/weber carb for blow through?

I have a holly 390 cfm that I was planning on converting to blow through but I'm not sure if it will deliver enough fuel I was hoping with water/methanol injection it would be sufficient at over 12 psi of boost. So my decision is either converting the 390 to blow through or buying a 600 or 650 that'...

Re: Turbo on a carbed 300

Im doing the same thing to my 62 f100 but there's a good thread on turbos somewhere on here.. The way I'm doing it I'll probably be at around $ 2000 with my motor build and turbo setup. That's on the cheap side given that I'm having the motor built for the turbo but it can be done cheaper without ha...

Re:

Bill in indy, you are surely the man! That is an exceptional program. 167@3500 rpm 299ft/lbs@2000 rpm vs. 194@4000 rpm 309ft/lbs@2000 rpm Pulse tuning in a 300 yields perhaps 16% more power over the better 4-bbl set-ups, perhaps 4% more torque. If the 'port on port' carb sizing is too small for the...

Re: Performance module worth getting?

My 2 cents is I have a 99 silverado with a 5.3l ls engine.. These are already said to be very economical engines with individual coil packs and what not.. From the factory I got about 17-20 mpg and after a high performance tune on 93 octane I get about 22 or 23 even saw 25 on a cold day coming back ...

Re: Machine shops and engine builders?

Custom Engine and Parts out of Longview, Tx is a very good machine shop for anyone looking for a machinist in east Texas. It's a very small shop run by an older man and his wife but it's a labor of love for them and they are very cheap and friendly. I have to watch the clock every time I go there or...

Re: dedicated cng 300 build

All points given are true. I built a natural gas Chevy 350 in my diesel tech class and we had bigger valves pun in, bigger cam, 13.5:1 compression, and a factory hei distributor. We did advance the timing slightly with the distributor but set the cam at o degrees timing. That was the best sounding f...
