I fergot. When all is back together but very careful about venting ur coolant system FTF mentions overheat and cracks a good way to ruin an online even before lunch is by not getting the air out. I recommend a T in the heater hose up by the heater core. A radiator flush t works well then u can screw...

Go to Napa , buy a sheet , 4x6 or however they sell it, of remflex buy a factory gasket for a pattern . Bore appropriate holes. Lay that under the carb and along the top of the intake. ...

I would go further to say a heat shield is bona fide engineering. Effective, simple no moving parts cheap a heat plate design hits all the targets. The 1356 t case is almost ideal.
I abused it in my tonner for 100k and the truck started out in Canadian oil fields she never had a chance, but the 1356 lives yet in a pile of parts on a cart waiting for one silly spring clip .
The tonners had PTO plates too, some of them did anyway
