The angle at which the throttle cable is attached is dependent on the spacer [or suitable replacement] being in place. Without EGR, the timing curve will need to be adjusted to prevent pinging when under a load.

Do as The Frenchtown Flyer has suggested. On my 1986, w/o EGR and using a Carter YF carburetor with Duraspark conversion, my engine's "sweet spot" is 14 degrees BTDC. This coincides with about 20 1/2" Hg vacuum. It is approximately 515 feet above sea level, here.

My 1986 F150 originally was and still is fitted with 215/75 X 15 tires. If you do mount a smaller tire as the spare, this might cause problems if your differential is LS.

I, too, run @ [sidewall] maximum air pressure, but on the Michelin LTX M/S, that is only 35 PSI.

A DUI system is just a modified GM HEI system is it not? If so, I'd strongly encourage using only AC Delco modules. All the other ones are lowest-bidder garbage. Assuming you have the proper thermal paste installed and voltage/ground are all within spec, I'd personally suspect low quality HEI modul...

The Duraspark distributor I bought from Performance Distributors is adjustable, regarding the vacuum canister. Turning the adjustment screw clockwise brings the vacuum in earlier. From what I understand, the total amount of vacuum advance is not altered, just the point at which it comes in.
