The towing capacity will be limited by the F150 rating. Keep in mind that the 300 / 4.9L engine was available in F600s... it will tow whatever you throw at it, but slowly! :)

That "17:1 A-F when pulling hills" is exactly what you have to avoid. I could see that at slight throttle when the density of the mixture is too low to cause problems, but 17:1 under load is asking for melted parts. But once again, maybe I'm paranoid. MechRick, I do not want to in any way...

The angle at which the throttle cable is attached is dependent on the spacer [or suitable replacement] being in place. Without EGR, the timing curve will need to be adjusted to prevent pinging when under a load.

Do as The Frenchtown Flyer has suggested. On my 1986, w/o EGR and using a Carter YF carburetor with Duraspark conversion, my engine's "sweet spot" is 14 degrees BTDC. This coincides with about 20 1/2" Hg vacuum. It is approximately 515 feet above sea level, here.

The original 6000 RPM tach and the 4000 RPM tach are set up to be able to work with either a V8 or 6 cylinder. On the back of the tachometers are 4 terminals.
